Some of you may remember a thread i posted a few weeks back about all my ds lites i had to send back to be replaced because they kept sending me deffective ds lites.

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25439659

Well yesterday nintendo phoned me (well they phoned my mom cause she was the one who sent in the ds lites) and they were on the phone for a while and my mom told them about having all the defective ds lites and how she was dissapointed that they were all defective and this had never happend with any other nintendo product we have bought. then the guy starts telling her this is rare to have happen. And then he starts offering her a free gift. he said he would give us a nintendo usb wifi connector, some stylus', some wrist straps or a nintendo power subscription. I just said i would take the usb connector because i didnt really want anything else and i have a trial subscription for nintendo power already and dont really read it. i already have a usb connector but its kinda broke but still works. i will just give that one to my friend so he can use it for his wii.

It doesnt change the fact that i have recieved many faulty ds lites from nintendo. but i guess it was nice of them to give me this gift most companies customer service would just be like "i am sorry that you are experiancing problems with our product, if you send it back we will replace if for you". im not 100% satisfied with my current ds lite becuase it has a few stuck pixels which bug the crap out of me and a yellow tinted screen but i will live with it because theres no way im sending it back again.

well this isn't really new...Nintendo does this a lot. They use to offer games as a gift...but they were mostly 1st party games that were budget titles. I'm surprised you weren't offered a game instead of all those accessories.

This reminds me of the Simpson's episode with Bill Clinton and he tells Lisa; BIll: "If at first you don't win complain complain till you get your way" Marge: "No offense but that's pretty lousy advice" Bill: "Well I'm a pretty lousy president" lol I don't know why buy I had to bring it up.....

Live with it? Live with paying $130 for an inferior product? Thats ridiculous. You can be taken advantage of by companies, whatever floats your boat.

That's because we are content with what console/system we have and don't necessarily want it to be perfect (my DS has 1 blue dead pixel on the top screen but I don't mind it being there).

If you're paying full price for a brand new ds/ds lite, I'd expect it to be NEW and flaweless, wouldn't you? Otherwise I could just buy a second hand ds lite that already says about the blue dot or whatever and get it for much cheaper. I can't believe people are saying 'oh just live with it'. If you open the box and it's flawed already, that's ridiculous and you should return it. If it happens after you play with it a lot, then meh ok it's your choice, but if it's straight out of the box it should be perfect and NEW.

Not really, I'd expect it to work and be able to play games with it, but I don't mind there being a blue dead pixel.

The DS Lite line does seem to have a lot of defects. Mine had a problem with ghosting, sent it back to the store, went to a new one, and got another ghoster. Ive learned to live with it.

Some peoples luck, eh?

Well I don't see how there is an argument about returning DSs. I mean, when I buy something, I expect it to be brand new and perfect. I paid the same as someone else who got it in mint condition, why does mine have a damn crack / dead pixel / yellow tint on it and not his? I mean, I could live with it if it was a gift, or bought used, but when I pay retail, I expect it to be perfect, and I am sure Nintendo thinks that way too, or else they wouldn't honor that refund, or make ammends by offering gifts. Personally, I am able to live with a dead pixel (my DS), however for my DS Lite, I still have warrantee, why not use it? I have replaced mine dozens of times, they have told me that I am extremely unlucky to receive bad batches upon bad batches. Once again, I think that I would be able to live with it, however, since they have such a great support, and a walk in service about a 10 minute drive away, why not use it? However, I don't think it was necessary to give out gifts to say sorry, they replaced it, and they did their job, nothing more needed.

Dead pixels with colors, ghosting..I'm so glad my DS Lite didn't turn out like that xD

Seems like the defective models are worse than the PSP's screen ghosting and dead pixels problem. :P

You should just take the ds back to the shop you got it from for a new one instead of bothering with Nintendo,i don't know why people don't think of that first when something breaks, maybe America's policy is different i guess.

I consider myself lucky that my DS Lite doesnt have any defects, that and the fact that if it did...i don't think I can send it to Nintendo and tell them to give me a new one because I bought mine off some guy.

Nintendo's Customer support is first class.  I once had a problem with my GBA SP (NES edition) that I had to exchange with them 3 times.  Every replacement I got from them had the same problem (weird lines running down the screen), so the third time I sent it back, I thought it was hopeless so I requested to exchange the NES edition with a plain black one instead.  The awesome part was that I sent in my Bro's SP for comparison purposes so they might be able to see what I was talking about, but when I got my package back, I noticed they also sent a replacement GBA SP for my brother too!  Needless to say I was very satisfied, and two brand spanking new GBA SPs was certainly a surprise for me.

But of course, Nintendo has always offered top-notch support and product quality.  Heck, even my Nes that I've had since childhood still works like day one.  I've never had a problem with Nintendo hardware, and that is why they will always be my #1 source for all my gaming needs. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, I did have the misfortune of getting a DS with the dreaded cracked hinge epidemic, but it still worked fine and I rode out my warranty as long as I could before I exchanged it and still got a fresh replacement when I did as well as a complimentary Stylus.  Nintendo certainly knows how to keep customers satisfied!

Also, like I said, I am content with what I have, I try my best not to want more than what I get if I receive something.

I also seem to be unlucky with DS. My original one--the L shoulder got chipped when it fell. I replaced it with a Polar Lite. The top screen got disconnected from the bottom. Now my black lite is showing signs of falling apart the same way my previous one did...what's up with that?
