Well, this has been one hell of a ride and it's not even over yet.
Nintendo's had one hell of a year, and it's not even over.
I still remember the hype when we got the first trailer of the Switch, watching it over and over and over again, studying it, watching every single footage of gameplay like I had an exam on it the next day.
And then that one, beautiful day arrived. March 3rd. We all know what that means, don't pretend you don't.
The Nintendo Switch arrived. Nintendo slammed the doors open to the Gaming room and stormed forward, past Sony, past Microsoft and held up the Switch. And boy, did everyone love it. A genius console, it's surprised me no one had done it before. Portable, yet you could play it at home too? Awesome! And this was only the first of their awesome explosions to come.
Straight away we got Breath of the Wild. Instantly, it became my favourite video game of all time and introduced me to the Zelda universe, hooking me in instantly. I loved it. The world loved it. 10/10 from just about everyone.
As the months went by, Nintendo showed no sign of slowing. MK8 Deluxe in April. Minecraft in May. ARMS in June. Splatoon in July. Mario+Rabbis in August. Pokemon Tournament DX in September. And now the beautiful Super Mario Odyssey, which like BOTW got 10/10 from just about everyone.
Nintendo knew what they needed to do after the flop of the Wii U (Don't get me wrong, I loved the Wii U and the games. It was just Nintendo didn't really benefit from it). Instead of ignoring what everyone was saying they actually did something about it and we got the Switch, with an amazing game line up for eight months straight.
And this isn't the end. Skyrim, Rocket Leauge and LEGO Marvel Superheros 2 next month. December also brings a BoTW DLC and who knows what else?
Whatever happens, Nintendo is on fire. And it dosesn't look like it's going out anytime soon.
