First off, I would like to say that this is not entirely about brawl, but more of sites that write about Nintendo, so it is not too much about brawl to be put in the Brawl sticky, but it is Nintendo related enough.
I'm guessing many of you have heard about the rumors about the Brawl delay, and sadly, they have come ture. Yes, the retailers were changing the release date to March, but only March, no correct date. Well, thanks to Googledotman on the Wii Boards, Wii Live was the first to report about the delay to March 9th.
The saddest part is, sites such as GoNintendo, and Computers and Videogames, posted these exact same story's, without giving any credit to who they found the story from, or the recepient of the email confirming the delay.
Now, I can't quite blame CVG, cause I'm not sure, seeing as i have no idea where the site got it from, seeing as it is a euro site. But i emailed the writer for GoNintendo about this story, and i asked him if he does post it, to please give credit for the site. I checked back an hour later, still not posted, i check back again even later, it was posted, but no credit goes out to anybody, not even a source of where the story is.
Now, I'm pretty sure that the story that was posted was the same one i emailed, the post featured the same email from the same company we posted. But no credit to either Wii Live, or the GameSpot user that got the email.
If this rumor was false, or slightly off such as a different date in March that the email said, i would not have cared. But, all the past rumors about GameFly, and all the other retailers, stated dates like March 29th. Our post, which was still a rumor at the time, stated the correct date.
Now, GoNintendo is a great site, with a huge fan-base, doubled to tripled Wii Lives, which i can admit out of respect seeing as they have been writing for over a year as opposed to us writing for 4 months. But i thought with a site as big as GoNintendo, they would have the decency, and the professionalism to give credit to the original source.
We here at Wii Live have posted storys from GoNintendo before, and everytime we have, we posted the source either too GoNintendo, or gave credit to GoNintendo for helping us find the story. And if we continue to post storys from GoNintendo, we will still give credit to show respect, and professionalism.
And one thing i would like to say before anyone says anything. Yes, i know we are not professional writers, but even if you are just writing for a little site, or a big site, you wanna be as professional as you can be. So please don't comment "You are not professionals, so why bother saying anything about professionalism?"
