By original, I mean Gold Version, Ruby Version, Fire Red, that stuff, not Mystery Dungeon or Pinball or those things.
I'd have to say my favorite was Pokemon Gold Version.

Gotta agree with you. I loved my pokemon crystal game but that was 7 years ago. Diamond and Pearl suck. The first 250 pokemon were the best. Pokemon Leaf green was awesome too though.
Pokemon Gold. It may be nostalgy speaking, but for the time, I had never put so many hours in one game savefile before. However, Pearl is right behind it :PArchaleSame. Gold is the best. I still occasionally turn it on. I swear if they do the remakes I'll go to the midnight openings, early morning openings, whatever.
G/S/C era.
My reason would be due to the fact it introduced such a high quantity of new features, and they worked perfectly with the game. It was quantity meets quality, and than some. It was certainly worth the money, compared to the other Pokemon entries. That isn't to say the other games are bad, but none of them have really changed the franchise like G/S/C did. Sure, Diamond and Pearl added some gimmicky touch features that were really just there to prove the touch screen could do something. Maybe it's just me, but I think most of the games have been average at best recently, certainly not perfect.
Although I don't expect to see a remake of G/S/C, I certainly hope the developers look back and see the impressions those games created, and try and make the games evolve (no pun intended) like G/S/C did.
I should really review Gold and Crystal, now that I think of it. I'm so far behind for reviewing games from what I own. I think I'll restart my Gold game on the way home from work tonight, that'll be good times :).
Gold/Silver/Crystal were by far my favorites. I remember back when I was really into Pokemon and had did everything in my Blue version then got Silver for my birthday. Wow, I think I had like 150 hours of time on that.
It improved Red/Blue/Yellow in every possible way. It added things like the day care and a bunch of new, well designed, likable Pokemon. Also, they had great starters, as good as Red/Blue/Yellow and great starters have been lacking in the last two generations. (Atleast in my opinion.)
Talking about Silver version brings back alot of great memories and I think it would go up there with some of my favorite games of All time.
I just started replaying through gold a couple days ago, man it is so awesome, it reminds me of the good ole days, back when I was 10 without a care in the world, but now I am 17 and there is so much s*** going on. Also, I recommend going back and playing some 64 games, games such as Zelda: OoT, Banjo kazooie, donkey kong 64, Super Mario 64, and mario kart 64, man I started playing some of these games last week and I am bringing up old memories that I've forgotten all about.G/S/C era.

Im going to break from the pack and say my favorite was ruby and sapphire. Those were my favorite games for one reason which is that my neighborhood friends all had them. Everyday after school we would play pkmn for hours at a time. Red and blue i also enjoyed but i was a little young at the time and didnt understand the concept of an rpg. The same goes with gold and silver. I would have enjoyed diamond and pearl more aswell except i just imported all of my old pokemon, and after that there wasnt much to do, even though i sunk 200 hrs into my pearl alone. @_@ One day i would like to go back and try GSC, and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe this summer.

Agreed. Sums up the game in 3 words.
Gold/silver was probably the most innovative, and I think may have been the biggest game of the 4 generations.
But I also really like Ruby/Sapphire. I'd say probably it's a tie between gold/silver and ruby/sapphire.
My favorite will always be Blue.Boba_Fett_3710
Hear hear! Blue rocks, and will always be the best in my book! 8)
