I just use the Wiimote and Nunchuk.

same here manGC controller, since I already had Smash Bros.-skills with it since Melee, and since no other control scheme added something fun or useful over it.

I have to play this game using some sort of joystick a d-pad just won't do for this game!. I originally tried playing this game with a wiimote sideways and hated it! I started to really love this game when I got myself a gamecube controller. Although I didn't get into melee (or gamecube in general)I was lethal at the n64 version so gamecube was the closest to the n64 feal.
For me ... gamecube > wiimote + nunchuck > classic > wiimote. It's not a huge deal for me to use the wiimote + nunchuck either if the gc controller is in use it feels pretty good too
... if it was SUPPOSED to be played like that then they wouldnt have allowed for gamecube controllers to be used at all...I use the Wii mote and Nunchuk - the way it's supposed to be played. I wouldn't use the SNES controller to play the original Smash Bros. if it were possible either.

I at first used the regular Classic Controller, but I imported a Classic Controller Pro that works really good. I have also used the GC controller so I liked that one as well.
i have an adaptor to play with my n64 controller...since i love smash 64 also.KBFloYd
what? tell me more. Where do I get one?

... if it was SUPPOSED to be played like that then they wouldnt have allowed for gamecube controllers to be used at all... Wiimote/Nunchuk has the most functionality in the game. As it is just as capable with its button layout as the GC controller thats whats tips the scale. I understand why playing the GC controller would be a factor in which controller you use as it has been used for so long with Melee, but I do not clinhy to controls. I can adapt pretty fast, otherwise I would not have gotten the Wii in the first place. However for a game like SSBB its great they could incorporate so many playstyles for different types of players.I use the Wii mote and Nunchuk - the way it's supposed to be played. I don't get what you mean. you can do everything with the gamecube controller that you can do with the wii remote in the game... so how does the wiimote have more functionality? also, that doesnt set aside the point, of if the wiimote was supoosed to be the way the game is played, then they wouldnt allow for gamecube support... the ability to have options was a godsend in brawl, because i personally can not stand the wiimote controls, regardless of their supposed superiority. im not saying that one controller is superior to the other, im just giving my personal preference on the controllers and stating that one is not "the way its supposed to be played" from this thread it looks like alot of people prefer the gamecube controller, so... even if there WAS a "way the game was supposed to be played", the majority rule would make the gamecube controller "the way to play"[QUOTE="thedude-"][QUOTE="garrett_duffman"] ... if it was SUPPOSED to be played like that then they wouldnt have allowed for gamecube controllers to be used at all...garrett_duffmanWiimote/Nunchuk has the most functionality in the game. However certain games on Wii have alternate controls but there is a main control scheme tailored to that game. Maybe SSBB is not one of those games as its so all inclusive. The Wiimote/Nunchuk allows for more multitasking between your left and right hand as there are more buttons allotted to the Nunchuk than the left side of the GC controller. The Wiimote/Nunchuk has wireless, it has rumble, it has Wiimote speaker support, and even motion controls. You cannot get that combination with any other controller for SSBB. If you use the Classic is has wireless and the best button layout of them all but lacks rumble; if you get the GC controller it has a decent button layout and rumble, but lacks speaker support and wireless. There is no factually greatest controller, but the Wiimote/Nunchuk factually has the most functionality. As the control is very specific to the player obviously I am not trying to tout that its a universal truth. Its just my reasons for it.

Wii remote + Nunchuck and I DO use up to jump. :P
-I haven't bought the cla ssic controller yet.
-Even though I played Melee in the past, I still mess up on GC controls.
-I'm a complete mess using the wii remote sideways. I hate using D-Pads in fighting games. :|
-Wii remote+Nunchuck is perfect for me. I control movement and shield with my left hand and attacks/taunts/specials/pause/shake with my right hand.
Since most people use GC and doesn't use up for jump, I guess I have weird taste. :P

[QUOTE="garrett_duffman"][QUOTE="thedude-"] Its still seperate.thedude-lol I suppose it is What this basically all means is, enjoy the GC controller. I do lol, and you enjoy your wii remote

And my reasons too!!! Just kidding... Honestly I know people who have sworn by it that they can only use the GC controller on SSBB, I have gotten using the Wiimote/Nunchuk permanantly. Some of these people were tourney players. Its just a matter of playing for an extened period of time with one controller. If you can get through the pain of not playing as well as you normally play then you can adapt to another controller, esp. one as awsome as the Wiimote/Nunchuk setup. Please Log In to post.
