I am getting Zack and Wiki in a couple of days and wanted to find out how much story there is especially at the very begining. I want to play with my wife but when it comes to games she has no time for cutscenes (she skipped the Guitar Hero 3 ones even, which are all of 15 seconds long). So how long is it until from starting the game to actually playing? And how much story is there overall?
There's not much story really, you start off on a ship its attacked you land on an island, you find Captain Barbaros' skull and he asks you to hunt for the rest of his body. That's basically it, there are ones in between. Tell your wife she has to watch them say games are supposed to be like interactive movies and that some story is good.

The story is weak. And for the most part the cutscenes are annoying. But you don't even have to watch them if you don't want to. From how you described your wife, if you are interested in them, watch them while she isn't around if you care. She will by annoyed by them more than likely.

I find them quite funny, but after a while the can get confusing.
Cut scenes let the story be told at parts where a more dramatic mood may be needed. I love the story in games, and kind of aggree with the interactive movie description, though games are much more than just that.

Yeah I will skip them when I play through with her, and maybe watch then another time by myself.

why do you find the cutscenes annoying? Every character has 3 maybe 4 different animations for them repeated the whole game. Examples: Hohoho Rose; and Mad stomp foot Rose; Look at Map Zack; Eat Chocolate Zack; Stare blankly Zack; Regardless of the dialog they repeat the same action for the whole time they are talking... I found that annoying. It was definately one of the reasons I only gave it a 7.5 in my full review.
