I finally got a WII!!! yeah!!! I'm so happy and I'm having a blast
but one game that i look forward to getting is TP; but after i read
through some of gamespot's review.
Does the game really use the wii-mote & nunchuck to its full potential
does wii-control feels tack on like what the gamespot said?

I tried playing Ocarina after TP.......although Ocarina seems to be an amazing game.......I'm not fond of the controls..........Zelda now needs those controls........they didn't feel tacked on to me at all......I find that they are an excellent fit for an excellent game

The controls take some getting used to, but within an hour or two it just becomes natural. And once you start aiming with the Wiimote, then you'll never want to go back to analog aiming. I tried playing OoT after playing TP on the Wii, and aiming with the analog stick seemed a lot harder than it used to.

The only thing I don't like is the sword action, I have serious responsiveness issues with that. But it was only added after E3.

The controls for TP are not bad at all, i thought they went really well with the game.

The responsiveness for the sword action was perfect for me...

If you own a wii... you HAVE to own TP

Unfortunately Gamespot's review is the lowest rating on any reviews on the game period. Any other source (IGN, EGM, Gamepro) has given it a much much higher score, and I wouldn't necessarily rely on the guy who reviewed the game in the first place because he tends to downgrade games for nitpicky reasons rather than the overall gameplay experience.

Modern game reviewers are very picky, any slight problems in a game, and the games loses 10%

dont go by game reviewers score....

they are better than the GC's IMO, however if you want a game that represents what's Wii all about, it's not TP to do that.

I loved the controls and everybody I know that has played it loved the controls. After a while it just felt so natural to swing the remote instead of pushing buttons, and the aiming with the bow was perfect I hope they make more game controls as good as TP

Yes, if you think only of controlers, having the two hands separated, and the controls are pretty good and easy to learn if course there is not a lot of use of motion-sensing, but it's really not necessary to implement some motion thingys only for having some, thats what makes poor games but TP in his own is pretty boring, if i knew i'd didn't buy it, but i still finished the game, but was too bored by it to even finish the side quests (specialy since you can't exactly play after you've beaten ganon tp is too repetitive, not enough open space, you really can't go anyway you want, and what made me start to hate the game, was as a wolf to only have to press 1 button to travel with a long joump... that was an incredible ideal to implement in a game

I actually think the Wii controls enhance the game quite a bit. TP was the highest ranking game of 2006 via Gamerankings/Metacritic, so if the controls detracted from the experience i'm sure it wouldn't have scored so high.

I think the only measure is compared to the GameCube controller. At least compared to Wind Waker, it's far better.

I started playing zelda two days ago, and at first i missed having a controller in my hand for a zelda type game. It was still more comfortable, but swining the remote felt awkward. After around 2 hours in i can never go back to normal controls. You get used to it, and it is so much better, and more comfortable. Never!

FYI the sword abilities such as the spin slash have to undergo a recharge. When you see the blade tip flash and you hear a certain noise then you can spin slash again. It's amazing how many people didn't seem to realize that even though it has been true of each zelda game since the spin splash has been in the series. it has to undergo a recharge.

The controls were one of the best things about TP, they worked great. However it wasnt one of the best Zelda games in my opinion. The story wasnt particularly well told and I just found myself getting bored of it by the 6th dungeon. The game was too long without enough narrative meat to pull it along IMO.

Gamespot said the controls feel tacked on, then review the GC version and say the wii combat is better.

Ignore the reviews the controls on wii are plain better. More fun, more immersive and the aiming is more accurate, the item selection and menu navigation is a breeze.

Yep. The review was right on.. The controls feels good, but a bit tacked on and it seems they could've been more creative and done some more with the motion sensing.. Also, Jeff was right about making Spin Attacks, when you're trying to perform a shield attack. :|

I could perform a spin attack without doing a shield attack or vice-versa easily, so I don't think he was right, I think its because when he performs the spin attack he started shaking the controller by leaning forward first you should just shake the controller from side to side and it isn't a problem at all. I could be wrong but the only way you could perform a shield attack without meaning to is by leaning forward with the nunchuck.

I think the controls were very well done, but I do agree that there is room for improvement, not only that they should have added a lot more mini games which made execellent use of the controller.

Honestly I rally liked it. I mean sure, you could have a button do the same thing, but the wii controller is much more comfortable since you can lounge around with your hands two feet apart.

They work very well, even if you can just shake your wiimote to swing the sword it still feels alot better than just pressing a button. And the aiming is just incredable, they are just perfekt. The only thing I dont like it the fishing, guess i need to learn it better.
