It might be because most of the big name rap albums of this year like Game, Nas, Snoop, and Jay-z were released late in the year or the quality of rap music might actually be declining but for the first time in six years, no rap artist has been included into any of the nominations for marquee categories such as album of the year or best new artist. So for this year and hopefully only this year rap stays in its own category. Check out the nominees.

Best Rap Solo Performance (For a solo Rap performance. Singles or Tracks only.)
Touch It-Busta Rhymes (The Big Bang) [Aftermath/Interscope Records]
We Run This- Missy Elliott (The Cookbook)[Goldmind/Atlantic]
Kick, Push-Lupe Fiasco (Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor)[1st & 15th/Atlantic]
Undeniable- Mos Def [Geffen Records]
What You Know- T.I.(King) [Grand Hustle/Atlantic]

Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group (For duo, group or collaborative performances of Rap only. Singles or Tracks only.)
Ridin- Chamillionaire Featuring Krayzie Bone [Universal Records]
Georgia- Ludacris & Field Mob (Featuring Jamie Foxx) [DTP/Geffen/Def Jam Recordings]
Grillz-Nelly Featuring Paul Wall, Ali & Gipp [Universal Records]
Mighty “O”-Outkast [La Face/Zomba Label Group]
Don’t Feel Right- The Roots [Def Jam Recordings]

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (For a Rap/Sung collaborative performance by artists who do not normally perform together. Singles or Tracks only.)

Deja Vu- Beyoncé Featuring Jay-Z [Sony Urban Music/Columbia]

They've already been nominated a few times and already won once so far.

most of the best rap song nominations are terrible. what a joke.

EDIT: i just heard kick, push for the FIRST TIME :o, and personally, i didn't see the big deal about it.. but it should win best rap song..
EDIT2: kick, push grew on me. i like it now. i also listen to alot of Lupe.

The winners are out: Rap Solo Performance: "What You Know," T.I. Best Rap Album: Ludacris "Release Therapy" Rap Performance by a Duo or Group: "Ridin," Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone. Rap/Sung Collaboration: "My Love," Justin Timberlake featuring T.I. Rap Song: "Money Maker," Christopher Bridges and Pharrell Williams (Ludacris featuring Pharrell). I guess those weren't the worst things they could have gone with.
