It might be because most of the big name rap albums of this year like Game, Nas, Snoop, and Jay-z were released late in the year or the quality of rap music might actually be declining but for the first time in six years, no rap artist has been included into any of the nominations for marquee categories such as album of the year or best new artist. So for this year and hopefully only this year rap stays in its own category. Check out the nominees.

most of the best rap song nominations are terrible. what a joke.
EDIT: i just heard kick, push for the FIRST TIME :o, and personally, i didn't see the big deal about it.. but it should win best rap song..
EDIT2: kick, push grew on me. i like it now. i also listen to alot of Lupe.
One minor good thing that happened is that J Dilla was remembered in the Memorandem.tuff_gong92i heard it :)
