the best album from the bay this year. fun album, everyone brought a lot of energry.

coppers ft sleepy d

pump up the volume
blaaaat
won't be long
no hoe remix ft e-40, beeda weeda, the jacka

also produced by dj fresh. probably my 2nd fav.

can't stay
let's wait
i'm serious
armed and dangerous
straight to the top

i'm not the biggest jacka fan but he's less uhh hyphy sounding so more people would like this album i guess.

callin ft devin the dude
glamorous life****/a>
they don't know
just a celebrity
won't be right ft celski

ok this is at least the 3rd best probably 2nd. i haven't listened to it enough yet. i'll add songs when i find some.

i'll add some more albums later.

Bay Area rap >>>>>>>> Asher Roth

Anyways I'll check these out.

That "Coppers" joint by D-Lo reminds me of some John Dankworth, trying to figure out the sample.

I'd listen to Asher over Bay Area rap any day... I do like Mr. Fab a lot though... I'll check out that first album you posted... maybe the second, if the 1st is good.

That's just one album though... I'm saying the subgenre or whatever you'd call itn general. Just because I really like one album doesn't mean I'm feeling Bay Area Rap... just that I really like J-Stalin. I'd rather listen to Asher than pretty much all Bay Area Rappers...

Dre Dog/Nickatina, E-40 and Spice1 needs some major props, no matter if you like bay area rap or not. It's required.

Man there are some ignant-ass people in this forum. I don't have any problem with someone not liking bay area rap, but the people here saying it sucks clearly show no signs of even knowing what the hell they're talking about. We're talking about the richest, most diverse scene in rap history. From Zion I to J Stalin, if you can't find something in the bay to like, I really don't see how you like rap.

Anyways, nice post Rubbersoul. I'm really surprised to see that Stalin album on your list - partially because I didn't think you liked Stalin, and partially because that was a really low-key release (incidentally, amazing almost from start to finish, too - just think, if J Stalin can afford to throw away amazing tracks like this on street albums, just think how amazing "The Prenuptual Agreement" is gonna be). Not to mention that it also has quite of a few of those "R&B styIe" DJ Fresh beats that I thought you didn't like. Five stars for putting up "Let's Wait", too - AWESOME track.

There's a bunch of other stuff I'd add to the list; Keak's "Thizz Iz Allindadoe" has some great tracks, the Livewire Radio album has some nice tracks, and the "Livewire Empire" cd is quietly creeping up to be my second favorite of the year. It's sequenced like ****, but the album is so random that I don't think there really was a good way to sequence it. There's still some filler on it, but Lil Rue verses >>> life.

I see Big Rich's new album just dropped, too. It'll probably suck, but there's still that chance that it could be great. It looks like Dnimals got the bulk of the production, which could be a great thing.

My favorite rappers from the bay would be

Spice1-Has a amazing catalog, with a few classic albums

Rappin 4tay-Love his style, nice smooth flow

Andre Nickatina-One of the most unique rappers imo, great catalog too.

Bay area rappers>>>>>>>>>>Asher Roth lmao at whoever said that theyd rather listen to Asher over bay area rap

Mkavanaugh77

Nice, 4-Tay doesn't get much love here.

Glad to hear you liked "Gas Nation" ... and so fast, at that. I was already a Stalin fan going into that album, and I really wasn't that crazy about the album on the first couple listens. ****, I'd still say it's got it's flaws. But the proof is there that Stalin can make a great record. What's more, though, is that alongside his Livewire clique, he's dropping amazing records at a rate of one or more each month. I would DEFINETELY check out that "The Real World Part 2" album Rubbersoul posted - GREAT stuff. At $10, it's a steal.

And with that mention of Cellski, that reminds me that I can't stress enough that you guys should check out Celly Cel. That's really some of my favorite 90's rap right there; I really can't see many people not liking that. Just pick up his greatest hits; it's more than worth the money. Mk, Rubbersoul (if you haven't already - never seen you mention him) - you guys should check him out.

The Livewire Radio album is pretty heavy on filler, but the good tracks are great - more than anything the Lil Blood solo track just gets me hyped for "Heron Music". Plus "You Gettin Money" is awesome, with a killer verse from Mitchy Slick (really, after that verse, I need to go back and check out dude's catalogue - I don't remember him being this great).

The Livewire Empire album is a grower, and really not for everyone. I compare Stalin to Turf Talk a lot, and the Livewire Empire record is a lot like Turf Talk Brings the Hood Collabolation. Both are random as hell, gutter as hell, and give hardcore bay area rap fans more of what they want without making any real attempt to cater to anyone else.

I don't really care about battle rapping, so I probably wouldn't be the best person to give you any recommendations, but I'm sure you'd find something in the bay you'd dig.

Celly Cel i been listening to for years, i remember buying his Killa Kali album years ago, not knowing who he was, and remember that i loved the album alot.

I got his Heat 4 yo azz album as well

Nice; now that I think of it I remember seeing you posting about him in the Albums You're Bumping thread.

However, DEFINETELY go pick up The G Filez ... as good as those other two albums are, that's definetely his best; a classic album to me. I still need to get around to checking out his fourth album (his first since leaving Sic Wid It) ... supposed to be very underrated.

Hes got an album coming out sooncalled Home Street Home

I'm looking forward to this; at first it was looking like just a random RealTalk release, but it's starting to look like a real full-fledged effort ... this could end up being great.
