I figure this is an album well worth discussing given his buzz, his tutelage and the fact that this is one of the bigger releases of the year thus far.

What y'all think?

To me, I've had one listen through and this album is fiyah. Simple. It stands out in the crowd and shows Big Sean has what it takes. I was never really interested in his mixtapes and whatnot but this is great.

Good use of guests. Not overpowering on his debut which makes sense and some bangers persist. Definitely have some summer jams on here for me...I Do It, My Last, Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay for example.

No excuse to not give it a try; absolutely none.

I'll update later with professional reviews but to be honest that **** is useless cause our general consensus is better than pretty much any professional review in the end

It shocked me I'll admit. I was beginning to think that Big Sean was becoming a little overrated with the buzz he was getting but the album changed my view on him. Favorite tracks:My Last,Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay,Wait For Me,and Don't Tell Me You Love Me.

I didn't like this album at first, but it's growing on my a lot. Sean is like Drake, but with good bars and a diversified flow.

I don't pay attention or really hype albums anymore. I've been disappointed when I do. I just take it as it comes so I don't even know what's coming out next week. We'll see what's good when the year ends.

I really don't want to listen to this album. I need to hear what Colt says first. I think I listened to one Big Sean mixtape and then never bothered with him again.

I haven't heard it yet but his first two mixtapes were solid, dude can spit. I wasn't too fond of his 3rd one though, his rhymes were simpler and some songs were straight up garbo.

Lol I hated this on my first listen, just like Thank Me Later... my "WTF is this pop-rap ish?... ughhh" mentality kicked in. But after giving it more of a chance, this is dope... Thank Me Later and So Far Gone >>>> this, so it isn't the best of its kind... but I'll take this over B.o.B's debut, and all the other cheesy, poppy mainstream rap albums that have come out in the last few years...

This album is better than So Far Gone. No contest bro. So Far Gone was dope don't get me wrong but it doesn't compare really. I mean they don't really try to be similar. Drake was doing different things on that...

Thank Me Later is a fairer comparison but still I don't think the content is similar. Big Sean had more fun with this album than Drake ever did on Thank Me Later. That's why this album really works for me. There's fun tracks and there's serious ones. Thank Me Later was Drake all on his struggle swag.

Two dope albums but dope for different reasons.

I did like the production on Thank Me Later better though

Very right about the content being different. I was comparing them because of how similar Drake and Sean are as rappers (their flows, punchlines, etc...). Drake was going for more of that emotional "HELP ME FIND MYSELF, I'm lost in the fame, etc..." vibe with Thank Me Later and this album is less of that and more of Sean coming with the "living it up" swag. But they sound pretty similar as artists imo.

So Far Gone >>>>>>>>> this... nothing on this album competes with November 18th or Houstalantavegas or Little Bit.

I was about to say 9 A.M. in Dallas, but that joint wasn't on there sadly...

LMFAO at even thinking about comparing this to Thank Me Later. I can understand So Far Gone because that was a really dope release, but this MURKS Thank Me Later no question. That album was too underwhelming to me,only songs that really got me were "Fireworks" (the version with Alicia Keys singing the hook) and "Show Me A Good Time".

SMFH at Show Me A Good Time being the "best" song off Thank Me Later.

You two need to go give it another listen... I don't see how people say So Far Gone was dope but that Thank Me Later was wack... same flows (or flow), same Drake-ish punchlines, less talk of love and more of fame... (but still a lot of both)....

So Far Gone was waaaaaay more fun to listen to,mainly because Drake didn't sound like Phonte on Authenticity trying to sing so hard....plus the lyrics were better and there was less filler. If it wasn't for Swizz Beatz funny hook I wouldn't even listen to Fancy, didn't like Up All Night besides the beat,Over was alright but nothing special,I'd finish my critiquing of the songs but I don't even remember the rest of them due to them having the same replay value as a modern Michael Bay movie.

I thought So Far Gone was better and I hate Fancy, but filler? Sooner Than Later? Let's Call It Off? Brand New? I liked A Night Off but I'd even call that filler same with that... **** it, even Ignant **** was filler imo and I'm the BIGGEST Weezy stan... good track, but it didn't fit with all the more original stuff and really was just there to be there ... and singing? Besides Houstalantavegas and a few other songs, his sing-song ish on So Far Gone wasn't all that great....... at all.

I thought both had decent replay value... I don't find myself going back to So Far Gone more... unless we're talking about individual tracks

I would have liked those two songs if they hadn't been done to death by people with 10x better vocals than Drake lol... sounded played out imo, I didn't think they were horrible though, just meh.

Houstatlantavegas was dope because he integrated the singing well... on Brand New, he was just singing.... and Drake should never have a track where he JUST sings... his singing is good when it's complementing his rapping. Alone, it's wack... If I want R&B-esque music, I'll buy an R&B album lol. Sooner Than Later isn't that bad, but dude makes me sit through all that meh sing-songing of his for one OK-good verse.

So Far Gone has some of my favorite Drake songs. Hell it even has one of my favorite songs to come out in ages on it but Thank Me Later is a better put together piece of work. It's a great debut and showcases what people love about Drake without too much of one thing. Good balance of singing and rapping and dope production front to back.

So Far Gone had filler...That's undeniable. Thank Me Later was efficient though and had a good run time. Also how can you not **** with songs like Miss Me or Light It Up either...

Drake can't sing, but he's a MUCH more interesting rapper when the rapping is used as a compliment to his singing, rather than the other way around. that's why So Far Gone was better...it was varied. The singing helped. If Drake isn't going to change his flow up, he NEEDS to sing more. Now imagine if he sang and changed his flow up...this is why I listen to him...to hear this Drake. This Drake would be dope as hell.

I'll agree with that... but I'd rather have him sing to the extent he did on Thank Me Later. A whole song of Drake just singing, or a song where he sings for the majority just doesn't stand up well on its own imo...

Black-Demon

don't you dare talk about Senor Bay that way :P
