Album is hot, but it won't change anything.Knife_Run
[QUOTE="The-Bulldozer"]Man I think it's close to Illmatic. Or it will be. I been listenin' to it for a week now.Knife_Runlol, you can say it's close to Illmatic when you've been bumping it for 10 years.Or atleast you actually heard all other NaS albums.
Man I think it's close to Illmatic. Or it will be. I been listenin' to it for a week now.The-BulldozerIts no illmatic....another illmatic would require the album to sound like illmatic like...illatic-esque production. HHID sounds way too modern and poppy for me to consider it close to illmatic... Nas will never re-do illmatic..

There's a chance of that. If he gets DJ Premier to produce.
Nas will never make another Illmatic unless he goes back in time. He doesn't live in Queensbridge anymore and he's 12 years older, it's just not gonna happen.bradleybhoy

I see no premo on HHID though. I shouldve been more precise. I meant the idea of HHID becoming another illmatic is impossible to me.[QUOTE="The-Bulldozer"]Man I think it's close to Illmatic. HHID sounds way too modern and poppy for me to consider it close to illmatic... Nas will never re-do illmatic.. Sorry, but that's rather silly. Are you telling me that in your mind there will never be an album that comes close to Illmatic because no album will ever sound like it was produced in 1992-4? That's silly. Everything sounds "modern"...it's damn near 2007. The only production that doesn't sound "modern" is made by producers that conscientiously are trying to make music that sounds like old music. The world we live in is different. I love Little Brother music, I love 9th production. But they realize that they need to evolve, peep the MCs working with different producers & 9th trying to perfect & expand on his production style on the Murs' albums & Black is Back. The charm of Illmatic is that it has consistently good-great production that sounds like it should be on the same album yet each song sounds different, with an MC spitting fire & riding each track's beat perfectly, while not coming off as being contrived or fake. Not that it sounds a certain way. If that were the case Ready to Die, 36 Chambers, OB4CL or Paid in Full can't even be mentioned in the same breath; none of these albums (maybe PiF a little) sound anything like Illmatic. You can't tell me albums like Reflection Eternal or Blueprint aren't classic albums that aren't in some folks mind at least in the same stratosphere as illmatic. Give me Saigon & Just Blaze at their very best for 12-15 albums without any commercialization, I'll give you a classic that is near illmatic.
If an album like this, went 10x platnium, and MTV, and BET along with the radio BUMPed the singles, hard...and then another dope album came out, and did something similair...then hip hop would be alive. Why? Because commercial success would mean, making good music 8)
If that ever happens, I can die, and go to heaven.
its been growing on me somewhat but its still a major dissapointment black republican , let there be light (aside from the guy singing which i cant stand ) , blunt ashes , cant forget about you .... not many more . how ppl can call this a classic is retarded . this album is far from classic . imo he only has two classics . lost tapes and you already know the other one. streets disciple>hip hop is dead . this is one of his worst albums imo .. ... illmatic>lost tapes>stillmatic>it was written>streets disciple> i am>gods son>hip hop is dead > nastradamus. Lakersman2000Having not heard Nastradamus, but all the others, I too think it really isnt great. Im not sure whether I would say SD >> HHID, but I do prefer the beats on SD.

I agree with LM, I like HHID, but SD is better imo....I think HHID is about on par with I Am..., just an average album. Nas' three best albums imo are Illmatic, It Was Written, and Lost Tapes.
