I really hate the let's be different just to be different attitude they have... which they admit to doing. Besides a few oddballs the list isn't too bad though... but the oddballs are pretty strange I have to admit.

Are you serious about this list? You cant be serious...Gangstarr has your number one on top 25 rap albums? What are yall rating this on...talent or impact? Cause neither of those two variables mix well enough to give gangstarr the go ahead nod at number 1. THen you have no tupac albums on here as well as 1 biggie album at 14? Then you have one Nas album on there and only 1 Wu tang affliated album? What about Raekwons - Only built 4 cuban linx, or method mans tical, or Ghostface killahs - supreme clientele or ironman.? You guys need to smarten up before you release some idiotic album list. Then you have BEASTIE BOYS AT NUMBER 3? Reasonable doubt doesnt make the list neither does blueprint but BLACK ALBUM? THink before you publish this stuff...please..and have someone who actually listens to hiphop write the list not some nerd who thinks they know hiphop

This "nerd" has been writing about rap music and hip-hop culture for more than 15 years.
This "nerd" has been published in The Source, Rap Sheet, Rappages, Vibe, The Bomb (If you aren't familiar with The Bomb, then you don't know much about rap or hip-hop journalism), Straight From The Lip, The Flavor and too many other publications to list.
This "nerd" has been shouted out on albums by 3rd Bass, Sway & Tech, E-40, DJ Shadow, Mac Dre, and Gang Starr, to name a few.
This "nerd" has watched kung fu films with RZA and GZA, sipped chardonnay with E-40, played dominoes with Spice 1, videogames with Del, interviewed Busta Rhymes when he was with LONS, eaten collard greens with Chuck D., talked bass fishing with MC Serch, talked alternative rock with Organized Konfusion, and learned about French cooking from DJ Fuze (Digital Underground).
In short, this "nerd" probably knows just a wee bit more about rap music and hip-hop culture than the average person working within the entertainment journalism sector.
As we said in the intro, "if you don't like our list, make your own damn list."

BTW, it's spelled hip-hop. Furthermore, it IS NOT a style of music. Hip-hop is the culture from which rap music sprung. Anybody who truly respects rap music and hip-hop culture wouldn't interchange the terms "hip-hop" and "rap." They would know that one refers to the entire culture while the other refers to a small part of said culture.
I highly suggest you read David Toop's essential primer to rap music/hip-hop culture entitled Rap Attack. You can pick it up via Amazon or at any solidly decent book shop.
Do yourself a favor and bone up on your history my fine young fellow!

I'm kinda suprised he didn't fix some of his editing errors up. He spelled the Dr. Octagon album title wrong, he got the words mixed up in the Brand Nubian album wrong, and he quoted the "Industry rule #4080, record company people are shady" line wrong:?
