How can his career be over when his last album went plat and had two big hits (wonderful and new york)? most rappers cant do that, especially after the beef and the feds. the only reason why you havnt heard anything from ja is cos he hasnt released an album in 3 years. lol, if ja rules career is over, then i guess everyone under g-units career is over (minus 50), fabolous is over, jadakiss is over, beanie sigel is over, lupe fiasco is over etc etc because none of them are pushing the units Ja does. Yes they do, different aspects of emcee's always clash and cause problems when they go to make their music. Aesop's voice and flow clash with his lyricism. Ja's lack of lyricsim, weak content, awful flow, wanna be melodic voice, and pointless (and repetitive) song messages clash with his decent hook writing ability. The fact that you say different aspects don't override others shows that you have no clue why people like certain things. The fact that aspects override is central to the idea of likeing something. This is because nobody does everything well and most do a few things well. And those few things are focused on and allow people to overlook other aspects of that persons music, athletic ability, learning **** whatever. People recognize the faults, but let the positive be their guide for liking something except when the negatives are too blaring to ignore. Even objectively, aspects override. Being able to write a song is objectively more important then say an emcee's swagger. People that are all swagger (battle rappers) have a hard time writing songs and it shows from there lack of recorded material that the ability to write a song is much more important then the swagger they have while rhyming.

Objectivity and subjectivity are not mutually exclusive concepts, they are clashing with eachother. I'm not even sure what it's asking because the groups of people are appearently doing somewhat contradictary things. If music is objective (which it is in many respects), then people that diss rap do not have the right point of view if their view is different then the objective view. Objectively speaking, the lyrics in rap music are far and above some of the best prose non-rap music has to offer. Rythem in rap is much more advanced in many respects, using voice as instrument (in a non-singing fashion) is a huge part of rap and is done better in no other type of music. The point is, anybody that is against the objective view does no have the "right" point of view. People that completely dismiss rap as complete garbage are fools, but rap is limited in it's musical complexity, but I do not (and hopefully nobody else) listen to rap for musical complexity (lyrical, yes, but I'm not tryna hear a 5 min. guitar solo in rap music). The question you should be asking is not whether music is objective, but does that objective stance even matter.

For instace people might find abortion morroly wrong and that is opinion, so the right for a woman to choce. You chose weather you think certain music is "good" in your own mind. People might find different things they like about music. For instace you say you listen for the lyrics. Other people might listen to it for how closly the artist has a "relashanship" with the beat(for instace when Biggie can say his own name almost right in line with the beat). Its all in the mind what is good or not.

Objectivty applies to morals too, but the weight of the discussion is much "deeper" and asks much tougher questions then whether music is objective. Ultimatley the objectivity is there, but it takes a lot to prove what the objective stance is and whether someones morals are in line with that objective stance.
