Can IGet A..... was bad with Ja Rule in there. They need to stay away from each other.
matter of opinion, but majority of people would disagree with you. you probably in elementary school or something when that came out in 98. i remember people used to wait for jas part and go absolutely nuts. did u see the hard knock life tour? im not having a go at you or anything, but theres a lot of people who think ja rule should be hates and is hated on by everyone. back in the day, ja was the dude, on the street ish and the radio ish he was and is ill when he wants to be. theres a mixtape floating around by jay, x and ja called murder incoroprated, yall should get a hold of it and listen. youll be pleasantly surprised (if youre into that kind of hip hop).

Id expect that from someone who is clearly all over 50 cents jockstrap. How can his career be over when his last album went plat and had two big hits (wonderful and new york)? most rappers cant do that, especially after the beef and the feds. the only reason why you havnt heard anything from ja is cos he hasnt released an album in 3 years. lol, if ja rules career is over, then i guess everyone under g-units career is over (minus 50), fabolous is over, jadakiss is over, beanie sigel is over, lupe fiasco is over etc etc because none of them are pushing the units Ja does. Also, if your career is over, why would people like Lil' Wayne, the Game and Jay-Z collaborate with you? you see, ja still got it, dont make me bury your little 'argument' even more.

so then how are you defining his career as over? cos im sure as hell his career isnt over if youre talking about the quality of his music and the passion he still has left for making music. right now some of his music is better than what he was releasing back in the day when he was on top, so i dont see how his career is over.

Ja Rule ain't terrible, there are far worst rappers swarming in the industry at this moment. Atleast his first album was good, atleast he managed to release a good album, unlike other overrated so called rappers such as Lil Wayne.

As of right now, he has no buzz.
kobegill
lmao, buzz? you gotta be kidding me. if rappers careers were determined by buzz, half the rappers in the game right now would be over. Ja doesnt need buzz to sell (believe me, a multiplat artist like ja can drop with no single and still push at least 100k in the first weak, which is more than most rappers), and he doesnt need buzz to make quality music (sunset, 300). lol @ you thinking buzz is what defines a rappers career as intact or finished. 'buzz' if for little mixtape rappers and gimick rappers who enjoy their 15 seconds of fame, come out the gate and then crash hard. ja is established, he is not over, trust me.

Eminem is wack now...have you heard any of his recent ish, dude fell off a cliff. Ja, on the otherhand, was never on to begin with. I speaks the the truth and what's real, that's just what I do. And objectively, Ja is wack.the statement ja is wack is subjective. your whole post is a load of horse sh*t. maybe when you graduate from school you'll understand. to say someone is wack, is based on your personal tastes. if you value lyrics then obviously you are not going to choose canibus over LL. but if you like records you can listen to with a chick youd be crazy to take canibus over LL. one aspect of an MC doesnt overide another aspect. music is cant be measured mathematically, so there is no way to say factually somone makes good music or not. maybe you could measure how lyrical someone is yes. small parts or elements of an MC can be measured to a degree, but then again what you might consider good, the next person might consider bad. just like right now ima say ja makes good music and you say he doesnt. aint no wrong or right, its when people like you try to pass their opinion off as true, thats when the problems begin. if ja doesnt make the type of records you like, leave it at that.

And objectively, Ja is wack.the statement ja is wack is subjective. your whole post is a load of horse sh*t. maybe when you graduate from school you'll understand. to say someone is wack, is based on your personal tastes. if you value lyrics then obviously you are not going to choose canibus over LL. but if you like records you can listen to with a chick youd be crazy to take canibus over LL. one aspect of an MC doesnt overide another aspect. music is cant be measured mathematically, so there is no way to say factually somone makes good music or not. maybe you could measure how lyrical someone is yes. small parts or elements of an MC can be measured to a degree, but then again what you might consider good, the next person might consider bad. just like right now ima say ja makes good music and you say he doesnt. aint no wrong or right, its when people like you try to pass their opinion off as true, thats when the problems begin. if ja doesnt make the type of records you like, leave it at that.

matter of opinion. but do you wanna know whats funnier? you being a ja rule hater! woooow, never would have seen that coming. do you feel safe being in the majority?
I'm not a hater dog, I just speak the truth...Ja is wack. I've disliked his music since day one doggie. Ish is garbage. The snippets from the mirror sound like the same trash. Find a better artist to defend...Ja ain't worth the timehow can you speak the truth? you acting like its fact that youre saying. if ja is not your taste in music, doesnt make him wack. i dont like eminem, but im not gonna say he is wack.
Eminem is wack now...have you heard any of his recent ish, dude fell off a cliff. Ja, on the otherhand, was never on to begin with. I speaks the the truth and what's real, that's just what I do. dog are you kidding? your argument is laughable and doesn't address my point. There is an objectivity in all things and just because someone considers something good doesn't mean that it actually is. Whether you like something or not has no bearing on that things overall quality. Subjectivity can be applied to ANYTHING, if you take your argument to it's logical extreme (which is a valid way of proving the structural problems within an argument, don't believe just look inside a logic textbook) no one will be able to objectively say anything is good or bad because other people "might" view it as possibly the opposite of their choice. My opinion of ja is not based off my dislike of the music, from an objective stand point that ish is wack. Saying there is no mathematically way to measure music shows that you have no clue about higher level music education. There are music theory courses at some colleges that are on the same level as calc in terms of mathematical difficulty. And you can measure songs in many ways because there is a formula to making music. You can tell whether a song is written well (not just lyrically but from a form standpoint, I've argued about Lupe's horrible song form numerous times, and I like Lupe's music A LOT), beats are easily judged as quality or not on an objective basis, the message of a song can be judged on an objective basis, the value a song presents can be determined on an objective basis, hell, pretty much everything about music can be judged from an objective and comparative standpoint.now, let me pick apart other aspects of your pathetic post:" if you value lyrics then obviously you are not going to choose canibus over LL. but if you like records you can listen to with a chick youd be crazy to take canibus over LL."
aside from the obvious typo, you here contradict yourself and objectively imply that LL makes better chick songs then Canibus. What if the girl I'm with likes Canibus and hates LL? Would I be crazy then to put on some Canibus, no, but does the fact that my girl likes Canibus mean the Canibus makes better "chick songs", HELL NO. Cause LIKES HAVE NO BEARING ON OVERALL QUALITY.
"one aspect of an MC doesnt overide another aspect"
Yes they do, different aspects of emcee's always clash and cause problems when they go to make their music. Aesop's voice and flow clash with his lyricism. Ja's lack of lyricsim, weak content, awful flow, wanna be melodic voice, and pointless (and repetitive) song messages clash with his decent hook writing ability. The fact that you say different aspects don't override others shows that you have no clue why people like certain things. The fact that aspects override is central to the idea of likeing something. This is because nobody does everything well and most do a few things well. And those few things are focused on and allow people to overlook other aspects of that persons music, athletic ability, learning **** whatever. People recognize the faults, but let the positive be their guide for liking something except when the negatives are too blaring to ignore. Even objectively, aspects override. Being able to write a song is objectively more important then say an emcee's swagger. People that are all swagger (battle rappers) have a hard time writing songs and it shows from there lack of recorded material that the ability to write a song is much more important then the swagger they have while rhyming.
Objectivity and subjectivity are not mutually exclusive concepts, they are clashing with eachother. Things can be both objective and sibjective, in most cases they are both because people are allowed to like things that are bad, it is part of our free will. Don't make me post again dun, I'll just crush you even worse.

So then what does opinion have to do with anything?
And i don't think you crushd him yet he owned you the last couple posts. This debate should def continue.
Opinions don't matter unless backed by evidence, whether someone likes something or not is irrelevant when comparing or making judgemental statments. When I said Ja was wack, he immediately choose to use the "opinion" and "likes" argument, but that is a red herring in my case, because I don't care what people like nor do I think my "likes" trump anybody elses. The correct response would be for him to ask why I think Ja is wack, then I would be placed in the position of having to prove (based o n empirical evidence) that Ja Rule was "wack". Which can be done by looking at various aspects of Ja Rule's music. Liking something is a subject process...quality is not subjective, just because you like something doesn't make it quality, if you believe that it does then you practice delusions of gradure only matched by the greek gods.
And if you think he owned me then you missed the incredibly fallicious statments he made that contradicted his own point of view, but then again, you like SPM, wiggy wiggy.

Is that the only Spm song you've heard. You keep refering to it.
Opinion has more to do with it then facts IMO. Mabye someone that knows so much about hip-hop can't be concerned with somthing as intiment as opinion. Like he said how do you fell being in the majority? The only reason i get hazed for listening to Spm is because nobody else does. If it was the other way around i can garentee you i woulden't get hazed for my opinion. Safty in numbers is the way everything is. I agree with pledge in the fact that music is purly subjective despite the fact that they can break it down to math as you said in your last post. If music is objuective does it mean that the people that diss rap and listen to rock have the right point of view?
I know im gonna get owned because i can't debate i just had to put my point of view out there.

Liking music is a subjective process, your musical taste is subjective, but the overall quality however is objective. I was joking about the SPM thing, but the whole safety in numbers argument is LAME and is another red herring argument. I don't care what the masses like, think, etc when it comes ot music. The masses bought 10 million Vanilla Ice albums, the masses bought 4 million copies of Encore, the masses did not buy 4 million copies of Below the Heavens. The masses is comprised of highly unintelligent people, why would I care what they think about music, especially if music is "subjective" like you and pledge say. And the fact the you argee with pledge does not matter either, the amount of people that argee with you or someone else has no bearing on anything. I'm an objectivist (if there is such a thing). It doesn't matter if you agree with something or like something...that does not make that "thing" correct or good. Now, the point you made about people that disses rap is well...odd. "If music is objuective does it mean that the people that diss rap and listen to rap have the right point of view?" I'm not even sure what it's asking because the groups of people are appearently doing somewhat contradictary things. If music is objective (which it is in many respects), then people that diss rap do not have the right point of view if their view is different then the objective view. Objectively speaking, the lyrics in rap music are far and above some of the best prose non-rap music has to offer. Rythem in rap is much more advanced in many respects, using voice as instrument (in a non-singing fashion) is a huge part of rap and is done better in no other type of music. The point is, anybody that is against the objective view does no have the "right" point of view. People that completely dismiss rap as complete garbage are fools, but rap is limited in it's musical complexity, but I do not (and hopefully nobody else) listen to rap for musical complexity (lyrical, yes, but I'm not tryna hear a 5 min. guitar solo in rap music). The question you should be asking is not whether music is objective, but does that objective stance even matter.

Ya that was a typo i had to edit it. It was suposed to be people that diss rap and listen to rock.
And i agree people probly do not listen to rap for its complexity. i can also see your point about how subjectivity and objectivity are clasing ideas. But objectivity is based on opinion. For instace people might find abortion morroly wrong and that is opinion, so the right for a woman to choce. You chose weather you think certain music is "good" in your own mind. People might find different things they like about music. For instace you say you listen for the lyrics. Other people might listen to it for how closly the artist has a "relashanship" with the beat(for instace when Biggie can say his own name almost right in line with the beat). Its all in the mind what is good or not.
Again, I don't care what people like, that is not my focus or concern. People like stupid things. And things I "like" and consider "good in my own mind" are not always "good" things. Again I'll bring up Lupe, I like the song "Dumb it Down" a lot, but it is a poorly written song and is in many respects not a good song, but I listen to it on the regular. So, it's good to me, but guess what it's not a "good" song.Ya that was a typo i had to edit it. It was suposed to be people that diss rap and listen to rock.

EDIT: Thank you for not trying to pwn me in the last post.

Objectivty applies to morals too, but the weight of the discussion is much "deeper" and asks much tougher questions then whether music is objective. Ultimatley the objectivity is there, but it takes a lot to prove what the objective stance is and whether someones morals are in line with that objective stance.
"But objectivity is based on opinion"....uh no, objectivity is based on the empirical nature of things. Opinions can be based on those things, but it also based on likes and dislikes. Opinion can be based on objectivity, but the converse of that statement is not true.
