This is the greatest show ever made imo. Good themes, interesting, realistic and very engaging.

This is probably my favorite scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M2AUYYKfxk

Followed by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYj7q_by_2E&feature=related

My favorite character is probably Omar. I'm about halfway through season 3.

If they develop Brother more, he will probably end up being my favorite.

Stringer, Cheese, and McNulty are also dope.

D'Angelo was my favorite until

It doesn't matter. I first watched The Wire last summer (seasons 1 and 2), then continued the rest of it this March and finished it about a week ago. Others currently following it are Orlando, Colt, and mad (from The Lounge). I also recommended it to a couple of other people who are now watching it too.

Cheese is alright, Stringer Bell is hands down the illest villain I've ever seen, really liked his approach in season 3. lol at Omar being your favourite...that dude is EVERYONE'S favourite. I never liked him much until seasons 4 and 5...thats when he climbed up to being one of my favourite. As for my favourite character besides Stringer, really hard to tell...they were all so damn good. It'd say it's a toss-up between Deniels, Freamon, and Marlo

D is amazing. Him and Wallace make the first season deep as hell.

Bubbles is pretty entertaining sometimes...

WHAT!!!

the finale was insane!

I watched the first 3 epidsodes of the final season and realised then (too late) that I'd lost (ha) the enthusiasm to watch it.

saw the first two seasons a couple of months ago, and then took a break for some other shows (breaking bad, dexter, flight of the conchords). i'm gonna get back to it on tuesday once classes are over =). i hear season 3 is bananas.

the first two seasons are really good, although i liked season one more. s2 starts slooow but really starts to pick up speed.

the best part about the show is that every conversation is so goddamn important. it took me a while to catch on but it's a show that demands active listening from the viewers or it'll just go over your head. they pack a ton of substance in each show.

Too true. If you doze off for a little bit, you might miss something important that's going on. I did this often in the first few episodes, and was kind of wondering how the episodes pieced together. As I've watched though I've learned that I've got to pay attention more...and as a result I actually appreciate the show more.

I've finished the first eight episodes I believe. I'm about to watch the ninth episode of the first season within the next five minutes :)

Couldnt have said it better myself, there were times in season 1 that I had to refer to the detailed summaries of each episodes in wikipedia to make sure im on the right track. imo, the show is strongest seasons 3-5.

I'd rank them as follows: 5 > 3 > 4 > 2 > 1

Just got done with season 2. I put season 3 on hold from the library so I'll see how long that takes.

Yeah the beginning of season 2 was kinda boring but they had to introduce all the new characters and new plot. Once they got all that out of the way and it made sense it was amazing

My thoughts/questions going into season 3
Stringer is sooooo manipulative. He did D'Angelo nasty, first with his girl and then by making it look like D hung himself in the jail.

And then he was meeting up with Prop Joe behind Avon's back. Is Avon and Stringer's partnership gonna fall out, if it hasn't already?

Omar is gonna go after Stringer even harder since he knows String set him up. And it looked like Brother Mouzone could tell Stringer set him up based on their little convo in the hospital too.

I already didn't like Stringer after what happened with Wallace... but damn. And he's always bringing up whatever he learns in his micro cIasses lol...

Is Kima gonna get out her relationship?

and I can't believe Ziggy shot that dude like that!!

Is this also the end of "the Greek"? Does he get away or is there still more...
Finished up season 3
Episode 11 was prolly the best episode out of all the seasons so far. The meeting with Omar and Mouzone to open it up, then that scene with Stringer and Avon talking about when they were younger on top of the building, and finally with Stringer getting got. About time they got him!!

I also was LMAO when they showed Rawls at the gay bar when Mouzone's dude was searching for Omar:lol: It came outta nowhere:lol:

The stuff I'm looking forward to next season are...

-what happens with Prez
-what happens to Cutty
-when is Senator Clay Davis gonna come crashing down
-what happens with Marlo since Avon's crew is off the streets. Is Slim Charles gonna be in charge of Avon's crew now or are they just laying low?
-I'm guessing that Carcetti eventually becomes the new mayor
-do McNulty and that cop from the port end up getting together?
I've finished the first 3-4 episodes of season 2. It's really good so far. All of the pieces for the season are finally coming together so we can get a direct plot....though the episodes have moved really slow so far.

word to all of these questions. man, stringer is becoming one of my favorite characters. dudes are nus for real.

im on season 3 now. season 2 had better plot twists than season one, but idk why but i hated season 2s ending...i felt the finale two episodes, and the busts didn't do the whole season justice.
man, i hope the greek comes back. he has to. his story is far from over.
I finished season 4.

I watched a couple minutes of one of the special features on the DVD and all the characters were talking about the show. Daniels, Rawls, Bubbles and so on... and Mcnulty started talking and he has a British accent in real life:lol: It threw me off so bad because I had no idea:lol:

thoughts:
The ending to this season was not as dramatic as the other seasons. There is still a lot left undone which I'm guessing they wrap up in season 5. However, from start to finish it is prolly my favorite season so far.

still kinda shocked Bodie got got

I felt sorry for a lot of characters this season, especially the kids. And Bubbles too.
Starts out as Baltimore drug kingpin vs. the police in the first season and then expands after that. Anyways I was just listening to Slaughterhouse and caught this Wire reference from Royce:

"In the D they used to call me Mayor Royce
now they call me Clay Davis, guess why? Shhhhh
Cause when it comes to them words you know I wear **** out"
-Royce

I got like 5 episodes left in season 5 now...

Finished season 5:
This season was exciting, but the storyline with Mcnulty faking the homeless killer just seemed too unrealistic.

The finale was great. Michael became the new stickup kid like Omar, Marlo realized the business world wasn't for him (like Stringer) and went and stole a corner, Sydnor started stirring up things with the judge like McNulty did in the first episode, Duquan was a geuinely good kid and was smart but became a drug addict like Bubbles, Carcetti moved on to Governor and so on. And at the end of the day, nothing in Baltimore has changed and the same things need fixing...

Bubbles finally being accepted by his sister was a great thing too and it was amazing watching his struggles with addiction throughout all 5 seasons and the path it took him along.

When Omar was in the convenience store I could tell he was about to get got, and then they showed Kenard and I was like wow. The episode before that Kenard gave Omar that nasty look and was like "that's Omar?" but I don't think anyone saw that coming.

Snoop's death scene was crazy.... "how my hair look Mike?"

I was glad when Slim Charles killed Cheese at the end.

Butchie's torture scene stood out a lot. He was a good dude, on top of the fact of him being blind, but it just shows you how ruthless Marlo's crew was. I felt bad when Prop Joe was killed too, great character...

Sad scene when Michael had to give up his little bro to his aunt, and Michael and Dukie going their separate ways
some of my favorite scenes for the entire show:
Season 1 Episode 3: The King Stay the King

Season 1 Episode 4: McNulty and Bunk investigate a scene

Season 3 Episode 6: It makes me sick mother****er how far we done fell

Season 3 Epsiode 7: Bubbles walking through Hamsterdam at night

Season 3 Episode 11: Stringer and Avon reminiscing, and saying their goodbyes knowing they're each setting the other up

Season 4 Episode 11: You gonna help, huh? You gonna look out for me?

Season 5 episode 9: How my hair look Mike?
So much hate in season two, my favorite. I hated season five at first, but when it was all over I liked it a lot more looking at the whole thing. That reporter and Ziggy are some of the most unlikeable characters in any series.

I liked the newspaper storyline, and how it showed how much the media effects things, how it effects the public's perception of things, and why certain things don't reach the masses, but like I said I just thought the whole serial killer thing was a bit too far fetched.

With season 4 it showed where all the Marlo's, the D'Angelo's, the Avon's, the Wee-Bey's come from and why they gravitate towards the corner. The schools were obviously the main part of this season but all the other things like Naimond's mom and the pressure she put on Naimond, Michael's mom, and Duquan's parents all were great too. By the end of the season I was really feeling for the kids. In season 5 I really liked how they continued the kid's storyline and you saw how even a genuinely good kid like Dukie who was smart fell through the cracks.

I don't think any of the seasons are bad by any means its just 5 and 2 are my least fave.

Check out watchtvsitcoms.com. They're megavideo links, so you can only watch 72 minutes a day [one episode pretty much--you can use the 72 minutes though, and wait about an hour and watch the next episode if you're willing to wait around]

If you don't feel like using that, you can use this site which has the whole series on it. I've been using it, and there's no waiting whatsoever. You just change the numbers in the URL when you want the next episode.
