A 15 song LP filled with based freestyles, random based god tracks, and some serious ones as well...

I'm talking a tracklist with tracks like I OWN SWAGwonton soup, Lil' B feat. KeKe the based tabby kittenLil B LatinoTropicsThe Age Of Information, etc.

...so a bunch of some of his funniest and best tracks.

What kind of sales does it have? Does the based god have enough of a following that they'd drop 10 bucks on a Lil' B album with worthy based freestyles and dope normal tracks?

I was talking about this today wih Fat Rob, Worst Game ever and some others & they disagree that a Lil' B tape would sell...maybe it's because i'm a LIL B STAN, but I think he could pull 100K in sales total. Clearly, Lil' B would probably never create a full length LP on a mainstream label as he makes more money just self-releasing....but what do you guys think?

the only way I'd see him hitting over 100k is if he had a catchy radio hit but I just can't imagine people that listen to the radio jumping and going out to buy his album. his lyrics wouldn't appeal to a lot of listeners even when he is joking and the serious tracks wouldn't be good enough to sway most people

Wonton soup wouldn't be a catchy radio single?

K dot did 80K on Section 80 on an indie label. Lil B can do 100k

100k? that's pushing it...even if he had a huge (aka ridiculous/funny) single, which i think he could easily do, i'd say he could get like 60-70k tops. Annnnd this is only if he promoted the hell out of the album for months and had some big guests on it...2 things he never does. I'm Gay was a proper album, but obviously the sales were hindered when he released it for free himself the day after it dropped on iTunes lol. I've always kinda wondered how many copies that sold...

Wonton Soup is catchy but  half that song would have to be edited lol and it'd just be no good

as far as Kendrick is concerned he's sold well because he can rap his ass off and still create good radio singles. I'm not the biggest fan of his but I know he's rightfully earned all his success and pretty much anyone in the hip-hop community respects him as an artists

Lil' B has a huge following and gets respect in the indie community & hip hop community. Sure there are a lot of detractors also, but there's probably just as many followers. Plus suburban kids would eat a Lil' B album up if it got proper promotion. The problem is he couldn't do a radio single...it would be mostly innanet hype...which has worked in the past. The biggest indie bands don't have radio singles and they debut within the top 10 on billboard.

idk if big guests would be necessasry...or even a huge single tbh. Like I mentioned to andy, he's got a huge indie following. People would eat this **** up for the lulz & with proper promotion he may even bring in some random suburban kids who would eat this up for the lulz.

also I'm Gay is exactly the type of album he can't release for the mainstream...he can't do that many serious tracks in comparison to [literally] no cooking tracks and expect to sell.

How many Lil B fans would actually buy a physical album?

I couldn't see it selling a great deal. Under 50k at absolute best.

I'm not sure how well his fanbase translates to sales. Sure he has a lot of true fans but at the same time there's an equally large portion of fans who like him ironically or treat him as a joke and only a joke.

edit: and for comparison first week Goblin sold 45k and OF Tape Vol. 2 sold 40k. I think Lil B would struggle to come close to those.

People buy things ironically. We live in the age of irony. LIL B in 5 years will have more buzz, or be remembered better than 90% of the XXL Freshman of the past 5 years.

if we did like a survey and asked Lil B fans if he started charging money for his tapes would you still buy it? I guarantee no more than half would say yes lol

His tapes and a well-thought out record are two different things. Besides, I don't think you can say any differently for any other artist. Radiohead let their LP go for free and later released a CD version. More than half bought the LP for free, but a lot of people put money into the LP making the average price for it about 5 bucks iirc.

When I say a well thought out record, I mean an LP with everything you want in a Lil' B album. Some serioues songs, a lot of based freestyles and a lot of off-base tracks like Lil' B Latino, or Lil' B feat. KeKe the based tabby cat, or "California Boy."

Too often, Lil' B mixtapes are just one style or too many songs. A lot of these 30 song mixtapes include 8 songs that are just straight gold and a lot of songs that are cool the first time around, but have no replayability.

With that level of success, a concentrated effort is more than worth the money....and a lot of BASED GOD fans would probably co-sign to that. An album full of WONTON SOUPS and SUCK MY **** ***** would be fantastic.

What if Lil' B took GOD'S FATHER and made it into a 14 song album.

Can't tell me that wouldn't be worth your cash

MY cash? totally 100,000 people's cash? probably not, unfortunately and i really REALLY want another Lil B mixtape on the level of God's Father. everything since that tape has fallen short and been a little disappointing, imo

Lil B would probably buy 100,000 copies himself.
