album was better than I thought it would be, but it's nothing to write home aboutfat_robgranted ive only listened to it once but its what you'd expect from the roots, and thats not a bad thing. i like it a lot. didnt really hear a song i didnt like
Edit: Take that back, just heard Hustla, only song i wasnt feeling
Gotta say, I've been feeling the songs they've been performing on Jimmy this past week. I'll probably cop this on Tuesday.
The thing about their last album was, for the first time since their first few albums, they were finally doing something interesting musically again. It was really only Black Thought's insanely repetitive flow that killed the album (though there were enough guest spots to somewhat pad things out). I don't see Black Thought being much different on this one, but at least it seems like this one is gonna be even better, musically.
My copy is coming Tuesday along with the Deluxe Edition of Recovery...Listening to How I Got Over right now thoughToriko42do you know what comes with the delux editon?

Anyways...Recovery still blows this Roots album to bitsposts can get deleted too genius. and you haven't explained why its better so your argument invalid.mems_1224it doesnt need explaining, just listen to both albums. Recovery kills it
[QUOTE="mems_1224"]posts can get deleted too genius. and you haven't explained why its better so your argument invalid.Anti-Venomit doesnt need explaining, just listen to both albums. Recovery kills ithow so? the production is by far better on the roots album as is the lyricism.not to mention the roots album doesn't have terrible hooks like recovery does.
what were your favorite songs on the roots album? least favorite?why do you think its a terrible album?
I think How I Got Over has a better sound than Recovery, definitely sounds more unified like there is a theme to tie every song together and it just sounds cohesive, something Recovery lacks.
How I Got Over is a bit better I think. It's definitely better than Rising Down...
The tracks with Blu are audio crack. Dude was made for The Roots.
The major issue I have with Recovery is that the production just sounds like a garbage bag of producers unused beats that Eminem spat on to make a mixtape. It doesn't sound cohesisve like his cIassics, Marshall Mathers LP, Slim Shady LP, or even The Eminem Show. At least Relapse sounded unifed...Recovery just felt a bit cheap in that regard but it's still a great album.
Recovery...7.5/10
How I Got Over...8.0/10

didn't answer my question. should be easy to answer for someone who's heard the album twice.[QUOTE="Anti-Venom"][QUOTE="mems_1224"]it doesnt need explaining, just listen to both albums. After several listen to HIGO I have my full thoughts on the album.
The album is very solid. Black Thought has some smart and tight raps through out the album. All of the guests on album do as well. Most notably Blu, as others have mentioned. Songs sound different but keeps the same atmosphere (if that makes sense). Making the album musical cohesive. Not to mention songs cover some sad and haunting issues in the world today.
I would say 4 out of 5.
The whole album is available for streaming on their myspace pageOrlando_MagicIs the album worth listening to from a dude who wasn't feeling the previous two releases?
