Canibus - Rip The Jacker

The image “http://www.dustygroove.com/images/products/c/canibus~~~~_ripthejac_101b.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This has grown on me soo much, since I've been bumping it a lot as I studied for my exams (also Mic Club and 2000 B.C sometimes), all his scientific/intelligent sh** compliments it pretty well. Anyhow, starting from the Intro, to Genabis and Spartibus, upto Poet Laureate II. That's some classic sh** right there...I've picked up soo many of his lines ever since I first bumped it...ish is crazy. This a classic in the making, it is what dream albums are made of. You'll have people wishing for a full album collabo of [Nas+Premo], [Nas+Jay-Z], [GZA+RZA], [Jay-Z+Jus Blaze], [The Game+Dr. Dre]...etc etc. Well...a [Canibus+Stoupe] collabo is also right up there with them...and you'll rarely ever get to see sh** like this happen in hip-hop. So get it while you can.

To this day,I still don't understand how LL Cool J was declared the winner of the battle between him and Canibus:?

I have Rip The Jacker,but haven't jammed it in a while. I'll take some time off tomorrow to listen to it:)

Mine's between Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek- Reflection Eternal and Jigga- Blueprint.... but I still like other albums like LB- The Listening, Brother Ali- Shadows on the Sun, Ghostface- Supreme Clientele, Common, Life Water For Chocolate, Outkast- Stankonia, etc. over Rip the Jacker. In fact I'm gonna go listen to Rip the Jacker now because I haven't heard it in awhile... Bis always comes nice lyrically but his flow is pretty corny and there's a point where you become too scientific with your rhymes, and Canibus crosses that line for me sometimes. I'm a bigger fan of the Canibus who was on Beasts from the East quite frankly, he needs to get back like that.

B.O.B.S. came out in '99, so that's last decade. Unless Hasheesh is talking about all albums from Dec 1996- Dec 2006 but I don't think he is...

BOBS is 99' so that obviously doesn't count. Yup, I mean this decade....2000-2009 (or 2001-2010 no big deal at this time). Whats amazing about this album is that Canibus is so damn consistent lyrically, and he's backed with top-notch production (which he lacked in most of his albums, see "Can-I-Bus"). This album is near perfect. Btw, that Beasts from The East song is dope as hell...limewire ftw.

Oh,and "Warriorz" by M.O.P is also one of my favorite albums of this decade. Premo was a beast on that album.

No, the best album is The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Then again, this decade isn't over yet so....I don't know why you guys are talking about this.

I'd probably go with The Blueprint too. I like Stoupe and Canibus is obviously skilled as hell but he's pretty monotonous and some of his scientific lyrics are extremely cheesy. I still need to hear Scarface's The Fix...

I don't know where I would rank it among my fav. albums of this decade, but "Rip The Jacker" definitely owns and is a classic IMO. Canibus tore it up on that cd and Stoupe obviously came through with the beats as he pretty much always does.

Now that is an album worthy of mentioning as one of the best of the decade. I'd agree with most of the picks other than the majority of murda's. I'd say my favorite album of the decade is Common's "Like Water For Chocolate."

[QUOTE="murdamuzik"][QUOTE="Lakersman2000"][QUOTE="murdamuzik"]Best albums so far in this decade imo are Alkaholiks - X.O. Experience (2001) Method Man - 4:21 (2006) Dj Quik - Trauma (2005) Masta Killa - No Said Date (2004) Dj Quik - Under tha Influence (2002) Xzibit - Restless (2001) Wu-Tang Clan - Iron Flag (2001) Wu-Tang Clan - The W (2000) NaS - Stillmatic (2001) Redman - Doc's Da Name (2000) M.O.P. - Warriorz (2000) Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientle (2000) Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP (2000) Dj Quik - Balance and Options (2000) Dilated Peoples - The Platform (2000)

the blueprint is better than all those albums.

Blueprint = More Overated than Knife_Runs Mom.

:lol: I can't believe how much Train of Thought grew on me over the years, it was probably just last year when I was in here calling it overrated. Now it gets my vote fo sho. The Fix, Like Water for Chocolate & Blueprint definately deserve consideration. Stillmatic & MMLP are in that next set of albums that are just below the ones I mentioned. Neva heard Restless, true story. Need to bump that one day.
