Mars from the production team 1500 Or Nothin recently told XXL that he's currently working with Will Smith on his comeback album. He is also due to lock in with T.I. when he gets released from prison later this month. The producer's latest work has been on Game's The R.E.D. Album on which he produced 4 tracks and also handled the Executive Producer duties.

"We're working on Tip, we're working on the High School movie with Snoop and Wiz Khalifa. We're working on Will Smith, bringing him back. That's actually him on the other line right now. Snoop's daughter, we just put out her first single. We're doing the whole album. Mario wants me to d a mixtape with him, we're working on that. I'm working on Ashanti. We're just working on as much as possible."

I love Will Smith, both his acting and earlier music. Although, he started to suck after BtR and L&F. I hope he's not going to release an album for the sake of releasing an album...

Will Smith refuses to make a movie that won't be a blockbuster or ever not play the hero, but he still makes rap albums. Its like the exception that proves the rule.

um, what?

He's produced some pretty moderately budgeted movies...and he's been involved in some moderately budgeted ones as well [Seven Pounds anyone?] The only thing that pumps movies like Seven Pounds up to 54 million in budget is the fact that Smith commands 20 million a movie...

I'm not talking about budget, Seven Pounds made 168mil worldwide. Every movie he makes is profitable, no other actor has that. I just think its ironic that that rule can't apply to his rapping. I don't think people want to hear the fresh prince anymore, i think this record will flop.

He's not the only actor that has that at all. People are stupid, they buy the person, not the product. People will buy an equally average Jay-Z album, because they see him as a rapper. People like you will say Will Smith's next album will flop, and Jay-Z's won't based nothing on their merit, but on what the media portrays these artists as, and what they want to happen. People will dismiss Will Smith, because they have no expectations for what he'll put out, and they'll buy Jay-Z's album and overrate it's actual quality, because of their insane expectations.

I've been supporting Will Smith ever since Big Willie Style.  I'll be getting this one.
