I doubt it's worth a lot. I never understood why a country would do this though, it just makes really expensive things really hard to add together. Then again I suppose it's not their fault but the global market.

Even if you took all your shiney, green American dollars there, you wouldn't be able to buy anything because they literally have nothing to buy (or was that just supermarkets?).

It's called hyper-inflation. It generally happens when a country has very poor management systems for their economy. An idea is that a country keeps on printing money, which while that may seem good since there's more money to go around; it isn't. Simply speaking, everyone gets richer so prices will have to go up to compensate (since not everyone can go around driving ferraris, there's only so much supply no matter how much demand there is). So the currency takes a nose-dive in value. It can get so erratic that back in Germany in pre-WW2 (I think), the inflation was so bad that the prices for things like the food at a restaurant could change by the hour, and by great leaps. Zimbabwe has the highest inflation rates, I think it's at 50000% whereas most fairly well-off countries are beneath 10%.

Actually, it is their fault. They don't manage their economy well, that's what happens. Granted they may not have the resources certain countries like America enjoy, but it still is basically rooted from mismanagement. It's quite unfortunate really, they don't really have much money to spend in the first place, and it's just getting more worthless. It's like an ever-deepening hole for them.

You know that they decided to remove the 10 last numbers from their money system since that would make it easier? I think it was this summer they did it.

You use wheelbarrows. Which, coincidentally, is slated to become the new unit of measurement for Zimbabwea's currency (ex: "That chocolate bar will cost you 10 wheelbarrows of Zimbabwae dollars").

I see it's finally got to the the level that germany was at after WWI, if they still make the regular notes they'll have reached the level that it's cheaper to burn than firewood.

Seriously, if I wanted to take one dollar and convert it to 5,000,000 Zimbabwean money, is there any way I can keep converting the money to other currencies until I can convert is back to the dollar and have more than when I started? That'd be sweeeet.

Yes you can. It's called currency trading. But you'd need a very large principal amount to get anything meaningful out of it.
