What is going on with all these school shootings? Seems like they are becoming more and more common throughout the world. Recently been several in China as well.

Once people start doing it, other equally disturbed individuals realize they can do the same.

Ah, man. This world. :(

Who knows why they do it? To exact revenge I suppose. Somehow in their mind the killing of others somehow equates to the same level of suffering they have 'endured' in life, at school, or whatever. Excessively emo to the point of insanity.

I just don't understand the mindset of someone that would go out and shoot kids. I know people can snap, but why go after kids?

The Chinese ones were "school stabbings", really grotesque, at kindergartens.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said she was "shocked" by the attack and had "great concern" about the incident.

How many times can presidents be "shocked" and having "great concern" when this happens all the time. Do they just copy and paste that quote for all these articles?

Why anymore or less than adults? Maybe it was kids that caused him to "snap". I don't think he was likely in a midset where he was thinking, "Well, the elderly have lived fuller lives, I guess I aim for them first, then the middle aged people, lawyers, nearby animals, children, taxi drivers, doctors trying to help my victims, younger children." There could have been a lot of reasons to shoot up the school, none of them likely to be good ones

You guys make this sound like this is something new.. Perhapes you should look into history on violent acts.. The biggest killing spree in US history within a school was in like the 1920s or 30s.. This stuff happens, and this hysteria of saying "man whats happening!" is pretty ridiculous as if its something new or unprecedented.. The only thing that has changed is the fearmongering in many fold more news coverage on it.

Only in America. They must have been playing too much GTA. And yeah I don't know why this is shocking either. People should expect there's a chance a violent shooting will unfold when they send their son or daughter off to school.

we have fire drills in schools all the time

and yet there hasnt been a death in school due to a fire since like 1880

we dont have drills if there were a shooting

lots of people have died from school shootings

schools need to invest in some sort of protection... not just relying on cops to get there

every second counts when a school shooting happens

Also I think it's important for a self defense program, so the children/teachers can stay safe. I think thats the best option. I think allowing teachers to carry guns around is a bit farAlso teachers should never use violence towards a child to set a good example. Emotionally disturbed children/kids who have been bullied should also get help.

Reading up on the shooter, he sounds like a manic-depressive shut-in that wanted to go out as a somebody. Yet another pathetic loser taking others down with him.

Trust me, there are people on this sad little board that think America is an uncivilized hellhole with as much violence as Bosnia circa 1993.

Or the fact that most people don't exactly recall events from fifty years as well as those which occurred an hour ago.

 I do bench press a good amount of weight, my friend. I was actually in a situation once when my English teacher thought I was going to beat her up, years ago. lol She really pissed me off for something (that I don't even remember now) and I waited until everyone left. And her door automatically locks, so nobody could get in. So everyone was outside while we were arguing back and forth. It got to the point where she later told someone I made "threatening" movements and "blocked her from the door" She was an old nutjob. :P
