Yes, you read that correctly: A 10-year-old girl in New Jersey is now the world-record holder for the raw squat event. According to Off the Bench and a handful of other sources, young Naomi Kutin set a world record for the 97-pound division in the raw squat event by lifting an astounding 215 pounds at the RAW Unity weightlifting championships in Texas.

Kutin's incredible lift broke the existing 97-pound division mark of 209 pounds, which was held by -- wait for it -- a 44-year-old European. That's right: the 4-foot-8 Kutin just lifted six more pounds than a woman who does this all the time and has 34 years of seniority on her.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/10-old-naomi-kutin-sets-women-world-lifting-145919498.html

I bet she's stronger than most guys that post here.

PD: I Don't care if old.

It's frightening that parents would let a 10 year old girl do power lifting. Talk about growth stunting if the injuries aren't enough.

You can start power lifting are early ages with a high degree of safety. You're aren't even familiar with the kind of training the parents have her participating in.

No you can't. No 10 year old should be lifting 200lbs...

I think the picture only shows her doing 85. She has two 25s and two 10s plus maybe a 15lb bar.

well the only reference i have is the gym i go to, and my school's gym, where most of the bars that size are 45lbs. the bars on the smith machine are 35lbs, and there's other shorter bars that weigh less

Ok? Andy Bolton squats ~1200lbs. The average male can work hard for a few years and get to 225# bench, 315# squat, and 405# pull. It is pretty impressive for her age and size though.

I don't think the bar's that big. She's just a little girl so it looks larger. Regardless, she's not lifting anywhere near 200lbs in that photo.

Stand bar for power lifting? Didn't know that. Never seen anyone using bars larger than standard bench bars that are around 15lbs. Regardless, I want to see a photo of her actually lifting the 209.

This topic and some of the replies make me hate life. I am guessing here that no one learned from being made fun of about not ripping on others or that you all do not care. I am going to take a wild guess and believe that the latter is true. I wish this young lady the brightest future and I am worried about how this activity will effect her growth ( I stunted my growth with caffeine) atleast people tell me. I believe this is a great accomplishment though and that this young lass should be proud of what she accomplished.

Yes, far to young to succeed. How dare those little tikes outdo their elders. RESPECT IS A THING OF THE PAST.
