Wait does this mean the CDN economy sucks or the American economy sucks right now?

It's always been like this. I can only remember one time in recent years where the Canadian dollar was worth more.Dylan_11This means the Canadian Dollar is worth more:P
It used to be about .62 CDN to a US 1. It also has been 1.12 CDN to 1 US. Right now its been moving around about two cents of even for about the past six months. It is due to the strong recession proof canadian economy and the weak US economy
It usually seems to float around equal...
Never matters though; prices never really change, making lots of things more expensive here in Canada.
It's just a periodic dip in the stock market... It doesn't mean much, and the U.S dollar will go up again soon. BTW I'm Canadian :)
Somewhat Related Note: Back in the 70's (I think it was that decade) the Canadian Dollar was worth signifigantly more than the American one :P
it means the United States will become Canada's Mexico, people from Vancouver BC will be taking weekend road trips to Bellingham to get wasted and maybe catch a donkey showlamprey263You got that right :D (Vancouver BC Resident) 8)

There was while where people were told to pay the US price, but I think that's only when it was over $1.00. Doesn't seem to matter if it's around even though :(
Many countries try to devalue their currencies to encourage exports and trade. Look at china. So it's hard to use the value of currency as a judge of a country's financial well being.
it means the United States will become Canada's Mexico, people from Vancouver BC will be taking weekend road trips to Bellingham to get wasted and maybe catch a donkey showlamprey263Canadians have already been doing that for years. They come down by the busload where I live to shop and hopefully avoid huge sales taxes they pay at home. This was back when the canadian dollar was still relatively low. A higher value of the loonie will only drive more people to cross the border as they get more purchasing power.

HST kind of sucks but at the same time there's that advantage at least.

I think that the change of value over time of the currencies relative to each other be a far better rubric to even begin speculation.

No, that's a generalization.:P
It means the US Dollar will go back up in value once the Federal Reserve stops its insanity.

The only economy who fared better pre 2009 was Poland (contraction of 0.40% of GDP), who also avoided recession and were the only EU member state to do so.
In terms of the topic, I'd still rather be a Kuwaiti national going to the U.S with their currency =]
