We have had a thread already of people telling what they did instead of watching the Superbowl. Most were playing video games or watching a movie. I personally was playing Dragon Age or something. Anything to keep from watching the BoringBowl (not a clever nickname but it fits how I feel about it)

A lot of people aren't really into anything. They were probably watching infomercials or something. Also are you sure it wasn't 106m households or TVs?

The population of the country is less than 312...?! Did I miss armageddon?!

I don't really understand this idea that every American is obligated to watch the Super Bowl. I find football incredibly boring and seeing as the score was like 37 to 17, I can't imagine watching a landslide victory for 3 to 4 hours was all that amazing. No thanks. I was at the store.

It wasn't a landslide, the Saints only pulled away in the last few minutes and won by 14. And I don't think the TC's number (though I don't exactly know what he means by 106.. households?) takes into consideration all of the people that watch at bars or with a large group of friends. There were over 30 people in the house that I was watching it in.

It was definitely not a landslide victory, the Saints just pulled away late. The game was still in doubt with only 3 or 4 minutes to go.

1. Why even mention the score as a reason not to watch if you don't care for the game at all? 2. The game wasn't decided until halfway through the fourth quarter. 3. You were at the store for three to four hours?

Um, no. :| It was 31-17. It was 24-17 before Manning threw the pick-six that put the game out of reach, and that was with THREE minutes left. Manning was 30 yards from forcing the first OT in Super Bowl history.

304,059,724 Thats the total US population roughly. 106 million people watched the Superbowl. That leaves 200 million people (nearly) who dident. Even if 20 million of those people were watching at friends houses thats still alot of people who apparently don't care that much to watch... or maybe had work that day. In the long run who really cares.

I'm sure many people, like my dad, had to work, plus I'm sure newborns and such aren't counted into the viewing population. But in the end, I, too, don't see why anyone would care about how many people watched the game.

American football is much too boring. I tried to watch with my family, but it seems like they would play for 20 seconds, stand around for 2 minutes, and then cut to commericals. Yawn.

A small percentage had to work, a lot were at church, some were too young to know/care about it, etc.

As hard as this may be to believe, there are those of us in this country who don't like football and find it, or sports in general, to be boring.

I personally didn't watch the super bowl simply because I would rather do anything except watch the super bowl.

Did I say the numbers were exact. I gave the likelyhood of around 20 million people added to the 106 million who they say already watched it. As stated at the end of my post though who really cares. Its the stupid Superbowl.

No but you did imply the assumption that 20 million was even close to the amount added on. One TV set was probably crowded by 5-10 people... if not more.

Fine take 100 million of the 200 million population left and that still leaves 100 million who did not watch it. Why do people care so much honestly though. Is it really that shocking to think that some people can't stand football?

So you're able to score 14 points in 4 minutes in football? Sorry, thats not making it seem any more interesting to me. That just makes it sound like a crap shoot.

And yes, I was at the store for 3-4 hours. And again, why am I obligated to watch the super bowl?

I find that the people in my school who are most obsessed with sports are those who are unathletic and don't play any sports or, if they do play a sport, then they suck at it. All of my friends, who are mostly those on the track and basketball teams, did not watch the Super Bowl.

It's one thing to actually compete, but it's another to just sit there and watch amnd have absolutely no effect on the outcome of the game.

I have to wonder why so many seem to think it's a big deal if someone doesn't watch the game. And numerous people here seem to be getting defensive that about me saying the sport is boring ;)

That number doesn't put in the numbers of people watching on the same televison so it's not very accurate. For instance, three friends and I were all watching the game on the same TV,but that would only count as one in the 106 million statistic.

surprisingly I watched it through. Pro football doesn't really get me excited. I'll stick to college ball ;)

Even though less than half of the nation viewed it, it set the record for any program to air on TV (in the US of course).

With that being said, there were a total of 7 people watching it in my house and I know of many other people who had friends over to watch the game with them.

They only responded to correct your unnecessary comment about the game being a blowout.WolfattheDoor34

Indeed. Now it just sounds like you can score 14 points in 3 minutes, which isn't all that exciting either.

It's only two touchdowns and one was defense....

No thanks. I was at the store.

you must not have heard ANYTHING about the game, it was a good one. its cool if you dont like football, dont get me wrong, just dont act all holier than thou about it.

it was problably the best superbowl for many, many years. It was a close game until the last 8 minutes or so, too.

As for myself, I was at work, pouring beer for folks, drinking beer, BBQing, and watching the game. Oh man, that onside kick was simply epic...no one was expecting it. I love how a couple of coaches even ran on the field lol. The commercials weren't too bad, either..."Dont touch my momma, and dont touch my Doritos" rofl
