"The boys' father told deputies the gun was kept unloaded in a closet at the home, the sheriff said. The 9-year-old had fired the gun before with his father's supervision, and investigators believe he knew how to load it himself." He had FIRED it before? God damn, get rid of your gun then, dumbass.

Well its premeditated murder, then. I mean the kid knew what he was doing. Its not like some idiot kid fooling around, the father taught him about gun safety.

If they didn't argue about the game they would have argued about something else and shot the gun off anyway.
Misleading and bias article title. Games don't kill kids, parents who don't lock up their guns do.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I don't want to assume things here, but wouldn't he also teach the 11 year old the same thing? That may be ommitted but the fact he knew how to load the thing is evidence of some sort of skill with a gun. It's murder. When I was 11 I knew the difference between getting annoyed and hitting somebody and murdering them. This kid is a nasty, jealous piece of work. If it wasn't a gun it'd be a knife.
This is very sad. And that kid still seems to be trying to save his own hide even after he killed his own brother. Im gonna be frank and say these kids should never be born, and the parents deserve to die.
Man.... and I thought it was bad when people team kill in L4D.
This is ULTIMATE TEAM KILL!

lol u're sig is crazy dude.
no dude, the kid knew how to load the gun himself :o:|..............WTF is a LOADED shotgun doing within reach of a child...

I'm going to take a "wild" guess and say... GTA.
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and say the father never educated hhis children on proper firearm safety and kept the gun under lock and key where his kids could not access it.
Theres something wrong with him. Chances are he isn't mentally stable.
There are guns in my house. My brother can get to them, he never tries to shoot me. Chances are there's something very wrong with the kid, he's screwed up in the head. He would've killed him, gun or not, and he would've killed him, video game or not.
Sociopaths can be any age.
I can understand wanting a gun in the house for defence, even though it most likely isn't needed. But you do not let children near it, or let them figure out how to use it. This isn't the fault of video games, it was the fault of the gun owner for not keeping it out of the reach of their kids.

My brother knows how to use guns. He started using them at 10.
He's never killed anybody, probably because he is a sane, mentally healthy person.

You always run a risk with a gun, it's never perfectly safe to let children near one.:|..............WTF is a LOADED shotgun doing within reach of a child...
legend26
Well the father said it was kept unloaded, but considering that the living kid lied about how it happened to get out of trouble, I wouldn't be surprised if the father is lieing as well.

The gun isn't the problem here. Its the crazyass sociopath kid that got angry enough to commit murder over a video game.
That's just crazy. Don't get me wrong my little brother and me had some epic fights over games(mostly Madden and NCAA) around that age, but we never even thought of using guns. We have plenty of guns at my house too.

My father is an FFDO, and I've shot his gun. He taught me how to use it so I am not a dumbass, and kill people with it. I know how to load it, clear it, and clean it. I'm now quite responsible with a pistol. Is my father a dumbass? Why all the hate on guns, they aren't why the kid got shot, they are how. It's the parents fault the kid wasn't on medication, and that the kid wasn't taught proper gun safety. I learned since I was 8 how to manage fire arms, and now I'm quite responsible with no casulties.

Well, the gun is what enabled him to kill his brother, if he didn't have access to it, the kid may have beat his brother up, but unlikely to have killed him. I'm not stating guns should be banned, but at least keep the ammunition locked away if you're going to keep the gun wide open.[QUOTE="-TheSecondSign-"][QUOTE="T_P_O"] You always run a risk with a gun, it's never perfectly safe to let children near one. This wasn't a lapse in judgement, this was insanity, clear in the making. If it wasn't a gun it would've been something else. The kid is screwed up in the head, period. If you get angry enough over ANYTHING to murder your own brother in cold blood, you'rea deranged psycho.
Where the **** did he get a gun from?
Edit: Oh I see, they had the mentality that a gun is perfectly deadly when you want to defend yourself, but in the hands of a 9 and 13 year old, they're perfectly safe
Thats a cynical few imo, the father likely taught the child how to use it, in an effort to make him more responsible and respectful of a fire arm. The kid has anger issues, and as SecondSign said, gun or not, he was gonna hurt someone. I'm 15, and I am just as responsible as a 30 year old, if not more responsible. I've grown up around guns, and have recieved the proper information to gun saftey so that I can hold a gun, and responsibly discharge it with no casulties or fatalities.Well, the gun is what enabled him to kill his brother, if he didn't have access to it, the kid may have beat his brother up, but unlikely to have killed him. But the parents could've stopped a beating up, once they gun is fired, that's it. I still think he wouldn't of died if the gun was secure. The real question is, where the **** does a 11 year old get a firearm that is LOADED and figures its a good idea to shoot someone?

He easily could of gotten a knife, which is just as deadly when used 'properly', but i say that lightly because using it innapropriately would make it deadly as well :P. He's screwed up, he killed his own kin, over a game. Anyone can pick up a gun just as easily as a knife or an axe or a grenade.[QUOTE="-TheSecondSign-"][QUOTE="T_P_O"] Well, the gun is what enabled him to kill his brother, if he didn't have access to it, the kid may have beat his brother up, but unlikely to have killed him. Maybe he would of, maybe he wouldn't of. How can we know? But there's no denying that hiding the gun would of prevented the killing to a significant extent. Please Log In to post.
