He gave $40 of it to his mother and spent the other $60 on a Carolina Panthers jersey. - Why did he give 40 to his mother?

similar thing happened in Norway some weeks ago. someone found something like 14 000 euros in an envelope on a tram in Oslo, then they gave it to the bus driver, who gave it to the police. :)

He was probably just in it for the badges. There's always a motive.

You can't say things like that man. What if the boy really had a honest intention? You never know.

Boy Scouts operate for badges and badges alone. They're a crafty lot, those sneaky Scouts. You think "oh, look at that nice young lad serving his community la de da de da." I see through them, though. I see that "nice young lad" is actually using the community to satisfy his twisted badge obsession.

Yeah maybe you are right. I mean, those boys dedicate their lives to getting badges so its quite obvious that he did that just to get a badge. I mean, they have no moral value at all, right? Everything they do is for the badge. Right?

Have you seen the Eagle Scout badges?

Lol that's gross oversight on the burglar's part. Let's just be glad that he did miss it.

I still have some hope for today's youth, but the Panthers? Seriously? :P I kid.

What a moron

Maybe that's mean but I highly doubt any of us would turn in $2,000. Don't even try that "what if it happened to you" garbage. Here's a tip, don't carry 2 grand in your wallet.

Yeah, this. It's not even easy to find big things. I've told her that any time she asks me to find something, it will result in me dumping the contents out to assist in finding whatever it is she seeks. She has since stopped asking for things from the purse, and just asks for the whole purse itself.

I agree, my fiance's purse is big and black and holds tons of things, I call it the 'black hole' :P

But even so, if you just find a purse on the street, the only thing you're going to look for is money. I mean, that's what I would do- I would search it very thoroughly before I just gave it away.

I would honestly kept the $2000, and returned the purse saying the thief must have took all the money. I could seriously use that right now to pay off some bills....

Exactly. I wouldn't feel guilty at all either. It's bad enough that you're carrying around two grand in your purse, let alone you ****ing lost it.

the tougher question would be if your child came to you with the purse he found we you call the police (do the right thing as an example to him/her) or keep the money?

Keep it! To teach the kid not to carry $2,000 around and if so, don't LOSE IT. That's the part that gets me, unless you're obscenely rich you just don't lose two thousand dollars.

ah, you're right. I read it again, somehow I missed that part.

Well, if she would've LOST it...:lol:

That still doesn't change the fact that she was carrying that much money around though. The only way I could see is if it was in traveler's checks.

I don't see what the fuss is about. He declined to steal someone's money...I should hope anyone would do the same.
