Such a shame that Mercury died, Paul Rodgers is useless..Maybe with Queen, but with Bad Company, he rocked. Yes Brian May has some great riffs, but he, along with every other guitarist, is not the best. "The Best" is to hard to determine. What one guitarist may be good at, another may not.

Why would anyone go out of his or her way to prove you wrong when you offer no argument whatsoever? And on what grounds do you claim 1970-80s metal and hard rock is the 'best' music? I'd be happy to destroy your argument if I have some free time tomorrow. Just post it, and I'll tear it to shreds, because by any objective standard of analysis, no metal or hard rock would ever qualify as the 'best' music (presumably you're referring to the entire world, and to all music history).

If you had just posted "to me" at the end of the topic's title, it would have been much more "flame proof". I do agree that some of the most cultural relevant music came from the 70's/'80's although suggesting that anything is the best music of all music is a bit presumptuous to billions of other opinions. You see, tastes in music, books, movies, art and other entertainment and forms of expression are merely products of subjection. I could say that melodic death metal or prog rock is the best music around. I would be terribly mistaken because even by consensus, nothing as subjective as a specific type of music can be the best out of all types.
