I lol'd
they've been talking about it for years on coast to coast am
interesting topic - but I don't think it's the end of the world - the planet's not that lucky
Is there any reason to believe it?
Revinh
There are a couple reasons, but I'm not completely convinced.
Actually when the Mayan's who calculated the time it took for the earth to revolve around the sun to the 10 decimal point, which we didn't achieve untile the 1900s. And their calender end in 2012, they may be onto something.blackngold29

[QUOTE="masters89"][QUOTE="InterpolWilco"]How many times was the world supposed to come to an end? Cause I lost count.gobo212
Yup, and we reached a point where we cant trust science anymore.
We have? Are you being sarcastic?
Cheer up man ! I'm not. Its true. We have and you have.

I don't think there is anyway science could be untrustworthy... Unless maybe all of the scientists were determined to lie to us for some reason. Science uses observations to come up with theories about how the world works. Obviously those theories aren't always right but that's no reason to give up science.
Good to know, but there's definately something weird there.blackngold29
The way I see it, there are two options:
1. We're all gonna die; or
2. We're not all gonna die.
In case #1 there isn't anything you can do to prevent it and in case #2 there isn't anything to be prevented, so either way there's not much sense in worrying about it.
It does predict a strange event yes,and more of a beggining of a new age, thus meaning an end to the other...but the strange thing is that it's not only the mayan calendar...there are egyptian calendars also that don't go beyond the year 2012 meaning, when cultures were not even aware of each others existance, they both came to the same conclusion = 2012,something else begins.NASA has also calculated that a meteor is coming our way (2km radius),and by today's calculations,it should hit earth around the 12-13 February 2013.Well,either something is going to happen,or it won't...guess we'll just have to wait... :D

Apparently on 12/21/2012 the planets and sun will align in such a way that they could move Earth's poles resulting in massive shifting of tectonic plates and drastic climate change. And apparently there us scientific evidence that something like that has happened before.
I hope it doesn't end in 2012. Maybe 2013. I just want to see how much of a failure the London 2012 Olympics will be. (I don't have much confidence in my own city do I, but can you blame me?)DannyDelorianLol. A valid excuse for 2012s survival if I ever saw one. Maybe thats what this is about? The olympics fail so badly that Earth just explodes.

Haha! Indeed. Prehaps the lack of a race track (we are severely behind on construction, we've not even started building yet, just demolishing) will send fans insane and cause a global, nuclear riot, with London being the first place to be flattened because of it's lack of motivation
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's get back on track here. If the world is going to end in 2012 then how many more generations of gaming consoles will we get?? Two??
Also, does this mean I should cash out my 401K and enjoy it since I evidently won't need retirement?? Can I stop paying taxes?? I'm beginning to think the end of the world could be the best thing that will ever happen to me.

Go for it mate. But remember, if the world doesn't end in 2012 you will be screwed. Think carefully :)

Party at my place. I'm thinking in five years we will be so partied out we wouldn't notice if the world ends or not.
