I was watching a trailer on Youtube last night for Metal Gear Solid 3, and my mom, who is a fan of 24 was next to me. She pointed out that MGS had ripped off 24, but I told her that MGS was around first. So, now this has me thinking, did 24 get any inspiration from MGS at all, or is it just coincidental that they both have a character named Jack who is in an anti-terrorist like group trying to stop the Russian production of nuclear weapons?
i'm a huge fan of both 24 and the MGS series. i've noticed the connection between the two as well, and when i pointed this out to my friends, they didn't believe me! but seriously, jack and snake are similar on so many levels, and plot lines are quite similar too. i'm not so sure that one ripped off the other, but i know that they do have a lot in common.

Don't worry, I agree. I like the MGS series better than Halo too. But right now, Halo 3 is on my spot of most favorite game at the moment. I have high expectations of Kojima, I am sure he will make the better game, even if it only beats Halo by a little. :)
