Hey, I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the Hardware discussion forum... so I just put it here...

Anyway, I wanted to get an iPhone. I currently have T-mobile, so obviously I'm going to need to get a jailbroken one. I was wondering what Wifi speed advantages there are with 3G over 2G. That will be my primary use, aside from texting/calling. On Craigslist, 3G is a bit more expensive than 2G, so I'm reluctant to spend more money unless it is definitely worth it.

3G is much much faster than 2G/EDGE. I'd go with the 3G if your a heavy data user.

Well wifi doesn't have anything to do with 2G or 3G. Wifi, 2G, and 3G are all different types of wirless connections. The iPhone can only use T-mobile's 2G connection, so the 3G would be worthless to you. The bad thing about the 2G though is that it's very old now and doesn't have the software support the newer iPhones have. If you are willing to get a non-iPhone phone I would suggest an Android powered device.

Oh, interesting. I would NOT be using it for data , at all. So the wifi speeds will be comparable with the 2G and 3G? I'm quite fond of the iPhone design, but I'm not 100% wed to the idea.
