Well heres my first car that I started out with and drove for above 2 years. 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. It was a free car which was really nice but I absolutely hated it. This past summer I didn't have A/C for about 2 months, so coming home on those summer days from work stuck in an hours plus of traffic was torture. It eventually got traded in for a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged in Setpember of 06.
This was my first new car that I had owned that I got without a co-signer. Car paid monthly by me, insurance paid by my mom. Great car that really had some features that suprised me such as the power and the pretty decent sound system.
Stock this car kept up with my friends 2007 WRX from a roll. From a dig I just got embarrased every time.
I really liked it until winter hit and it snowed. I know this car is FWD so its suppose to be like this but man did it tick me off. While I was struggling to make it down an snowy road, my friend in his 07 WRX was zipping around and having a blast. This made me want AWD much more then before.
So fast foward to a month ago... I was still driving the Cobalt and was still pleased with it but my itch for an AWD turbo'd 4 door was getting to me. So I went out looking at the Subaru STI (been looking at this car for about 2 years now but because I couldn't get a co-signer, I couldn't get the car) and test drove multiple years. First was an 04 that I liked, second was an 05, and the last one I tested was an 06.
I liked them all but the look of the 06-07 wasn't to pleasing to me and since there are no more 05's brand new I went looking else where. That else where lead me to a Mitsubishi dealership where they had a brand new 06 Evolution IX MR in the perfect color wheel combo.
Test drove it and was blown away. For how much the STI and Evo have in common they are pretty different beast once you get them on the road.
After going to and from the dealership multiple times and trading my car in May 1st of 07 I came home with this...
I would just like to say that this car is paid monthly by me only, and I got it without a co-signer. Insurance is still paid by my mother but for some odd reason its cheaper then my Cobalt SS/SC. :?
Anyway on to the car. This car blew me away time and time again.Â
I really liked the interior. Some people say the interior of this car really isn't that nice and is cheap but coming from an SS Cobalt, its really nice. The Recaro seats really hold your body in place and you feel like you can take any turn at speed and not fall out of your seat.Â
The power of this thing is insane. This is my first turbo'd car so I wasn't really ready for the power surge to come on at full throttle right around 3k. I knew from reading and driving my friends WRX what to expect but coming from my supercharged Cobalt with a more linear yet no where near the pull of this thing, is simple awesome.
And overall, I think the Evo looks better then the STI, but for sound...the STI is the clear winner. Simply cannot beat the boxer rumble from the rex.Â
I've only had it 2 1/2 days and still breaking it in (under 5k for 600 miles and I'm @ 460ish right now) so I haven't even redlined it yet.Â
I can guarantee you that I will be owning this car long enough to pay if off completely. This is after all my dream car. :D
