I was put through the pain of watching a preview for it today. Looks to be waaay overexaggerated. Didn't get an "epic" feeling at all from the trailer. And the main character always seemed to have the same angry/retarded picture painted on his face (kind of reminds me of Frodo in LotR movies- always same expression as well).Meh. It was really good in my oppinion.
I'll probably end up renting it to see what was so great about it and realize it is trash just like 95% of movies out there.

Probably because it is.
have either of you seen it, if not you dont have any idea about how it is. a trailer could look like the worst movie ever and end up being the best. So to everyone who hasnt seen it and still insults it shut up, see it before you try making any opinion about the movie.
it was a truly epic movies. the battles IMO were bigger and bloodier than Saving Private Ryan and they actually were historically accurate battles tooFUBAR24

Yes, because the highly trained soldiers of the Wehrmacht are known for running suicidally into machine gun nests and leaving tank hatches unlocked.

yeah people hate it just becasue it was hyped and just because its so popular. They cant seem to know why people love it so much , yet they themselves have yet to see it.

well it probably wasnt completely historically accurate. but i guess 300 spartan soldiers and a few thousand greeks held a pass against 300,000 persians for 2 days, but then the persians found a way around. so i'm sure some stuff was dramatized, but they are pretty accurate id guess.
it was a truly epic movies. the battles IMO were bigger and bloodier than Saving Private Ryan and they actually were historically accurate battles tooFUBAR24no they were not there were more than 300 spartans there were 1000 milita soldiers from the nieghboring city states fighting with the Spartans also the spartan wore brest plate and cooler helmet which would make them look much better. The whole reason the spartans were so effective was due to there great armor
Yeah a 70 million opening weekend it must really suck.videokidandrewMovie sales has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a film. By your logic; XMen 3, Pearl Harbor, MI:2, etcetc were masterpieces and should be enshrined.

what made them so good was the phalanx and their fight skills that they trained for years to acheive. They were made to fight. They had more endurance, strength and skill then any other army.

More then just that.. The Persians were ill equiped compared to the Spartans..  While Spartans had bronze armor and weapons.. The elite unit for Persians, the "Immortals", were poorly equiped compared to them.. For instance the Immortal's shield were made not from any known metal, but from whicker.. basically a whicker basket..Â
Also Spartans formation and discpline were far FAR superior having the training some argue rival the elite military units of today.. Top that the true brains behind the operation wasn't Lionidas (spelling?) but a person named mysticlious (spelling yet again) who was the general of the fleet.. He masterminded the entire formation, with the stand on land at the narrow valley while he at the same time held off the massive fleet of Persians at sea.. He basically held off the the fleet from breaking through and landing behind the Spartans...
Also the numbers were arguably around 150k to 300k for Persians to the 7k to possibly 10k of Greeks.. Basically for over 2 days they held them off in this pass till they were supposedly betrayed by a fellow countrymen who showed the persians a path around the pass, thus surrounding the greeks. Originally there were 1000 or so soldiers at this past guarding it, they fled in fear that the Persians may attack their home home city which was relativly close. Basically what Lionidas, 300 spartans, and about 1000 thesipians did was stay behind to hinder the Persian's from slaughtering the rest of the army which was retreating, while at the same time giving the Persians the illusion that they were not retreating.Â
In the end though Persian armies were large of size they have always been beaten by the better armed, disciplined, and advanced tactics of the Greeks regardless if they outnumber them..  Thus why Persia never conquered Greece, yet Alexander was able to effectivly conqueror the entirety of their empire..Â
That being said what really bothers me how people some how think this movie is trying to be racist some how... Or connected as propaganda for the whole "axis of evil" bs.. Though I do have to admit some of the deformed characters in the movie were a bit much.. Other then that it is indeed a work of art IMO that really can not be compared to any other movie out there, it is unique in its own right.. And even if a person doesn't like it I would think that people could at least enjoy the innovation they created in a hollywood that has become stagnent with too many cliche stories.

it wasn't just 300 spartans, there were also 700 thesselonian volunteers, and it isn't proven that there were a million persians, it is said that it was more likely that there are only 100-150 thousand.  I haven't seen the movie but i am planning on it as it looks like it will be fun to watch and visually exciting.

there are tons of different reports about the number of spartans. There are anceint historians that say 2mil-5 mil, some think is was more like 250,000. Plus it could of been 1mil+. They had alot of men at sea.
THIS SHOULD END ALL THE FIGHTING ABOUT HISTORICAL ACCURACY, DO NOT POST UNTIL YOU HAVE READÂ Â Â Â Â Battle Of Thermopylae-Predak-
The movie was based on graphic novel. Thats all that has to be said. The battle itself tock place, they did fight the immortals, they were flanked by a traitor. Frank Miller wanted to give his own look to the battle, and 300 is that.

The majority of historical experts widely agree it could not have been greater then 300 to 500 thousand because the near by water supplies could not support them..
