Not really, they acted quite civil.  they didnt want to be tyrans, just some dirt and water.  If anything, it depicted them as somewhat benevolent... but crappy fighters...

It's a movie, about how our history is written. So we can't appreciate history now? How about protesting when the book came out? Oh wait, they wait for things to hit pop culture before they protest.

The movie in my opinion is well done, and if they dont some research on that battle, the movie isnt offending them, the movie is just for entertainment. If they dont like how they were being portrayed in that film, then maybe they should be more careful about their actions and war before they give them more material to make another movie.

That's because the Persians are present-day Iranians. And Iran has widespread censorship so don't be surprised if Iranians start bashing 300 for mindless reasons.

I like how whenever movies insult the US,UK,etc we just keep our silence and give people the right watch it and form their own opinions....but god forbid we make a movie making Persians look evil ( which they were at time, the movie shows this by making them look like demons....i mean come on they were their to invade Greece and burn down their cities) and Iran flips out and practically calls for all people of Persian decent to protest =/

UnknownSniper65
The movie is based on historical facts. Many things you see happened(there were 300 Spartans with 700 Thespians who stood up to thousands of Persians who wanted to conquer Greece. They fought so bravely and killed a great number of enemies that, after that fight,Persians lost the will for conquer and left.I am Greek,I know my history). This HAPPENED in the past,2500 years ago,and people should not offend about that.If evryone offended that easily, then the Germans should protest all the time about movies and videogames that show how they lost the WW2.No censorship to art

I dont know what era of the Persians that movie depicts as i havent seen it, but as i recall in the Persian Empire the Persian Emperors never believed in slavery or burning down villages. They would actually pay all laborers. The one time a city was burned down (Athens?) was actually because the Emperor had lost control over his soldiers. This act of violence of course pissed of their enemies even more and screwed over the Persian Empire in the end when Alexander the great came down on it.

This is of course, off the top of my head. I could be horribly mistaken, so feel free to correct me on my history :P

So true. What should the Germans say about Return To Castle Wolfenstein, although I think the game is not allowed in Germany. :P

I was basing my opinion around what they did to Athens =P although something tells me had they been able to get to Sparta they wouldn't of sparred many people...specially after those 300 spartans killed the Persian Emperors son....so in hind sight we have no clue what they planned to do but we do know what they did to Athens....so i just based my argument around that.

I'm iranian and its not offensive to me. I think Iranians may be a little upset because with the US policy towards Iran now they feel as if US is depicting them poorly over recent events. Any type of people should understand movies are movies, tv is tv, music is music stop taking things so seriously. Everyone already knows that Persians are as tyrannical as depicted in the movie anyway (I hope)

Exactly. Even if a person in a government position says something it doesn't represent the entire nation. I remember when the Iranian president made comments on Israel and everyone completely flipped out; obvioiusly his opinion doesn't encompass all of Iran's people. BTW in my original post it should say aren't tyrannical  it completely devoids my opinion the way it is now.

US is the most sensitive country of all. We constantly have to be politically correct, drinking ages are restricted, censorship in tv and movies, bad language is a no no.

A country always looks different when looked as a foreigner buddy..  Why do you think the average citizen in Great Britian for instance have a huge differences in opinion about the US, over a US citizen them self.  The US is easilly to see this on how bloody partisan we all are in the past 10 years when compared to other western nations..

Hey, let's think if the Spartans had failed, what would have happened to Europe?Stevo_the_gamer
True...what would of happened had the spartans not bought the people of athens those critical extra days to leave the city....the spartans single handedly saved thousands of people and pretty much allowed greek culture ( and the idea of Democracy....when they say they died for freedom they weren't lieing....if Greece gets captured by Persians this early in greek culture Democracy is never as well documented) to live
