I have just read this. If its true, thats quite a significant difference. Why is this?

 I want to see the reaction it will get.
yes it would be something like that
there are many reasons why that is ...
over 60% of french don't believe in God ... Sweden even more
are you talking about christianity or just GOD in general?
soren008
I think it means God in general.
shows that americans are bigger (both waist wise and faith wise) idiots than here in the ukmy_name_is_ron

Ok. Is that GOD a white bloke with a beard sitting in the clouds?
Or is it a sheer spirit which created everything ?
 at Ron's comment
and that's statistic is very surprising to me, I'd have thought it would have been the other way around... here in England (or atleast in the part of England I live) everyone seems to be a Christian :P
In the USA, presidents and candidates running to the white house will say things like 'God bless you all', 'God is with us' and stuff like that and have no problem in showing how religious and church attending they are. In Europe that is basically unheard of, at least in the last decades.chewie_I_miss_u
Britain in general is uncomfortable with public displays of religion. If someone says "God loves me" in Britain, you will get odd looks. I'm not religious, so I'm not trying to present it as a bad thing.
I started a thread on the British Board about fundamentalism in the UK. The reaction there was unanimously that these people are crazy. I don't think that the same response would be found in OT, somehow. I'm so nice I'm even going to supply a link to the topic.
Edit: this was originally specifically about a documentary, but it moves on from that around the second page.

I would have thought that the term "God" is something or someone that started the universe. So the second choice.
Although when asked the question in the survey "Do you believe in God?", most people in the Uk would have referred to the Christian God. So really the survey could be considered inaccurate with that in mind.

If you found the bible on the back of Captain Crunch would you still believe it ?
how long would it take you to agree that this was all logically true?
show me the proof. of course religion requires faith and belief but why is there no place for logic in religion? it's impossible to turn water into wine. it's impossible to rise from the dead. it's impossible to walk on water. until it's proved to be possible then these things simply didn't happen.

same with Usa no?
Yep. You're right.
Estonia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark and Norway beats UK.
Trying to find a good explanation is hard, but I think it has to do with the integration between culture, politics and religion.

If that is people who belong to different religions. Then the Norway one must be inaccurate. If it doesn't count people who are just religeous on paper. It might be accurate.

The image is created by the 2005 Eurobarometer Poll, they asked whether the person believed "there is a god", believed "there is some sort of spirit of life force", "didn't believe there is any sort of spirit, god or life force". The pic shows those that picked the first option. It should be noted that Czech Republic had the most "atheists" with only 30%.
Because we live in a multi-culturial society so we "have" to tolerate other reglions.clyde46
yes, and what does that have to do with it?

being of oner religon may iinsult people of other religens so if you belong to ne religon you must belong to all religons
I am for once proud of being an American :D.
Honestly, If the Atheists on this board represent the majority of atheists over the pond, then I am NEVER stepping foot in the UK. Honestly, most atheists on this board are worse than religious extremist when it comes to pushing their beliefs on people. Not to mention the select few (not going to mention any names) who think they "know" that God doesn't exist and call us religious folks "naive".

The way i look at it, most religious people are just brought up having god and the bible (or any other religious book) presented to them as a fact from a very young age. E.G. If someone was brought up in a country with only white people and everyone believed that black people didn't exist, they would believe it aswell.
