The only reason I agree with the mother and child, after reading the article, is because tey were originally told they were allowed to do it.
However, coming from a strict Christian school, that would never be allowed. I had a friend who lost his brother to cancer and we have an annual "World's Greatest Shave" to raise money. He was not allowed to shave his hair anything below a number 4 because those were the school rules.
Hmmm, after that thread the other day about the little kid who was getting sued for bumping her bike into some old lady, I'm convinced that all children are just terribly naughty nowadays :P
wow. Ultimately it was for his long hair, but he was growing it so that he could donate to those who lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
Once again these kinds of instances are exactly why I take issue with the likes of zero tolerance policies. I'm fairly sure that if it was just a general rule that kids had to have neat trim hair we would not be hearing about this issue. Instead it's a zero tolerance policy that allows the people enforcing the rules safety regardless of what the details of a particular issue happens to be.
If it's any consolation for the kid, Jesus would have been kicked out of the school too.

Lol yeah no doubt. Man things like this just make me....
Exactly why this is so stupid. All christians then had long hair.If it's any consolation for the kid, Jesus would have been kicked out of the school too.

Wow, I can't believe how they treated that boy and his family. But in all fairness, they did tell them the policy. I'm not condoning what the school did, but the school did make the rules clear.

True, but there's really no reason for them to kick the boy out other than "those are the rules". They have the right to kick him out if they want, but you'd think that in special circumstances such as this they could make an exception.
Not beforehand. The article says that when they joined the preschool, they didn't mind the hair as long as it was clipped before kindergarten. They agreed to it, but the rules were changed anyways to ban the boy from coming.Wow, I can't believe how they treated that boy and his family. But in all fairness, they did tell them the policy. exactly. The rules were put in place to keep the boys in that school to have the appearance of an upstanding person, but in this case his actions were based around being a good person and setting good examples. The rule may make sense most of the time, but in the rare cases that it makes more sense to not follow said rule exceptions should be allowed to be made.its a private school, they make the rules like it or not. There are other places you can go.AutoPilotOnThis. The school is private. I just wish people would wise up and stop funding these idiots.

If it weren't for that, there would be no contest. To me it seems like it was not against the rules at the time so that was the main reason for allowing it. More like confirmation of current rules and not a special exception . The rules then changed. I think that school started near the beginning of September , so they were given more then fair warning. They choose to wait till the last minute and unfortunately tan into a snag and did not cut it. Do not really see fault with the school .
"Renee Szablewski is a good, churchgoing Catholic" I stopped reading here. You don't have to be religious to be a decent and giving person. To the point though its a shame that this happened to the kid.
I saw the word, "Catholic school", rolled my eyes, and closed the tab.
Religion is just hilariously stupid sometimes. (a.k.a. all the time)
I don't get why long hair is so bad? It makes people look good8)
He's even helping people with cancer but yet the pre-school bans him?!
They can just....well I won't say it cuz I might get modded.....
I'm amazed at how people don't understand the Bible. The Bible condemns long hair on men. The school was acting within their own interests to expel the student.Genetic_Code
The bible condemns shaving your beard too, but I can guarantee you that a Catholic school won't let a high school boy grow a beard. How about braids on girls? Can't have those either.
