Yeah that last one always makes my head explode, no matter how many times I read it.foxhound_fox
Why's that. of course the Universe is large.. VERY Large, almost infinitly large.. it's not that confusing. The most brain exploding one is the multiple Universe Theory, the one where you are doing something else in another universe that one gets confusing.
I remember one from a while ago. I won't be able to word it quite as elegantly though.
Due to the speed of light we are seeing the Sun from 8 minutes ago. With that in mind, no matter how close an object is, there is still the slightest bit of delay for the light to travel from said object to the eye, as well as time taken for it to be comprehended by the brain. Ergo, everything we are seeing now has already happened.
Even weirder, the same thing means that there is no absolute standard for simultaneous events O_OI remember one from a while ago. I won't be able to word it quite as elegantly though.

Same here.
If you walk out of the room, there's a possibility that a robot sneaks in through the window, picks up your couch and walks out.But... (it's gonna get weirder here) until you've noticed/seen that it's missing, the couch is some kind of "probablity cloud" where it IS and IS NOT in the room at the same time.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody's around, does it still make a sound? The answer is yes and no at the same time.
Depends on the definition of sound you use; the primary definition of sound is an auditory impression, so if no one is there to perceive the longitudinal variations in air pressure that produce sound, then no sound occurs :PIf a tree falls in the forest and nobody's around, does it still make a sound? The answer is yes and no at the same time.

The parallel universe stuff gets me every time.
"Dude you just moved on electron on the other side of the universe!'
"Really"
"nah, I have no clue what I'm talking about"

It's comforting to know that I'm a famous multi-billionaire who trains dragons for circus games in some universe.:D
And on the flip side, it's disconcerting to know that I'm a broke rapist in another.:(

Don't forget the universe where Hitler won World War II and you're the current leader of Germany.

I just thought of something:
There's probably a universe out there, somewhere, where Greenland won World War II by repeatedly Zerg Rushing the Australian capital of Asguard.

You just destroyed logic and caused the universe to collapse. Thanks a lot, jerk!So wait...right now I'm posting in GameSpot, but could be living out my Indiana Jones fantasy in some parallel world?
BADASS.

hahah, there's also a universe where Evolution went a different direction and BUGS now rule the alternate earth. Crazyness.
The last one, there's another thing that goes along with it that will also blow your mind. The Fermi Paradox.
Which is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of evidence for, or contact with, such civilizations.
The alternate universe theory is awesome. If this theory is the case then a universe is created for the smallest thing, am I right? Like, me typing a message here now, and me (in another universe) not typing a message here...
lol, I understand most of those theories, except the furniture one..ferrari2001
Yea, it sounds like something a kid would make up. "Yes mom, the milk spilled itself."
I dont mean to start anything, but christians have been pushing how crazy these theories are that people believe (like evolution), everyone tells us how we are wrong for not believing in those theories, now some site comes up, and says it and now everyone agrees? Unless evolutionist are avoiding it like the plague, but I just can't believe that people are finally are going, "yeah these are joikes." Am I missing something? Just food for thought, how come if a christian says a theory is wrong, people dont want to hear it, but if some random site says it, people just go, oh ok?SegaGenesisfan
Say what? I'm not trying to avoid whatever point you made there...but that's just it, what the hell are you talking about? Could you try again without putting together arbitrary statements? :?
