I'm more worried about the ulcer in my stomach than this virus right now. If it starts spreading and thousands of people start to die, then I'll worry about it. Until then, I'll watch the news, keep my distance from sick people and just live my life. :)

In Mexico...with poor access to care...and poor access to the latest pharmaceuticals.

As opposed to the United States where, as the article tells, Tamiflu and Relenza can be easily acquired to cure cases.

In all, this is about as scary as walking around and suddenly realizing your socks don't match.

Exactly.

You get the flu, your life sucks for a week, you take care of yourself, and if you need Relenza or Tamiflu initially, then you get it. If you feel your chest becoming more and more congested, see your physician for nebulizer treatments and possibly antibiotics with some mucinex. Take some Motrin or Tylenol for any fever. Stay hydrated and take care of yourself.

Geez, it's like no one here has had the flu before.

Yeah, the only thing that seperates swine flu from the regular kind is that its a little more deadly but its not going to go awry if you take it seriously by doing what you just listed.

I guess the only thing that we should be afriad of is spending our money on all of that medicine :P

This is a scary idea, but the media is blowing it out of proportion. The deaths all occured in Mexico, and seeing how it is a third-world country, they people probably couldn't afford any way to relief the symptoms and eventually slow the virus. The rest of the 1300 people infected are still kicking. Most have made a full recovery.

Canada wasn't mentioned once in the article. Obviously, this means the Canadian government is behind this. :o harashawn

I'm not particularly worried. A majority of the deaths have been in areas with low standards of living and lax medical care. According to CNN and like news sources, Americans aren't dieing in large numbers from it.Vandalvideo

Actually, if I'm reading the article right, there have been exactly zero deaths in the United States; the only deaths that have occurred were in Mexico.

At any rate... while it's mildly concerning, to be perfectly honest I'm getting a little tired of people crying wolf every single time a new flu strain comes along. Seems like every single new strain is going to be the next 1918 pandemic.

If this isn't a reason to close the borders, I don't know what is.

Remember when Joe Biden said Obama is going to have a major test within 6 months of his presidency?

Are you guys ready?
