Can't he just play with an older level team?Engrish_Major
Yeah like that movie Rookie of the Year or whatever that was called. :P
HA what a ridiculous league. When I was 9 I was 6'3 and threw 45-50 mph, and there was another kid in our league who was 6'4 and threw harder than me.
We weren't expelled from a league and we hit batters all the time.
The world is changing...
Yeah its just seemed so unfair. Just let him play with older teams if hes that good.
No one should be penalized for being too good at something.
If someone is better at something than you, its life.
He should play with players as good as he is, not play in a beginners league.duxupWould you subscribe to the thought process that if a player really sucks he should go play tee-ball with 5 year olds?

No, the articles say it is a beginners league. If he is that good he should play with the better players.
When i played in the Babe Ruth League 9-12 division we had guys throwing a lot harder than that. There was none of that cant lead off base, cant slide, cant deck the catcher at home crap. It was full on major league rules which is how it should be. You cant teach a kid to play one way and then change it later on.
I dont care what the guy says this is shady. Out of the 2 little leagues i played in 1 other than i coached in and another that i umprired for after graduation ive never seen or heard of someone being singled out for performing too well even when a few of the kids i saw were obviously outclassing everyone else on the field.
Ages are usually used as the measuring stick as to what level of sport a child participates in. If we are now going to send children who are too good to more advanced leagues, what are we to use as a measuring stick? The number of parent complaints because their child isn't as good? No, the articles say it is a beginners league. If he is that good he should play with the better players.

Just let him play, and use it as motivation to develop better skills and become a better player instead of whining and crying.

Ages are the starting point. Most every league I know of start kids by age and then moves them around if required. This is nothing new. Rather this sounds like parents who can't deal with their child possibly loosing to actual competition.
Absolutely pathetic imo. For parents and coaches to take their kids off the field, forfeit the game, pack up and go home. Way to go parents. Thats the best way to show your kids that they are infact inferior and that they should run from any tough problem that comes though lifes way.
What I find more pathetic is that this decision was made when the team was 8-0 and on its way to the playoffs. Why couldn't you at least let the kid finish the season? I bet you if he accepted the defending champs invitiation the team that is sponsored by a league employee things would have been different.
They need to let the kid pitch. Have you seen this little guy? He can't even fit into his hat or his shirt he's so small. Just looking at this little guy and realizing that he is effectively being outcasted is just outrageous. And for what just because he's good?
Parents always complained about me in baseball and basektball growing up because I was super tall and they always had to check my age. But I would have loved for them to tell me that I couldn't play. That I couldn't play with my friends, that I couldn't play against my friends. Talk about unfair.
Growing up my brother's baseball team won three Babe Ruth Bambino State Titles and went to the Regional Finals twice. And to spread competition and the feel around for them to get a chance to play against each other. During the In-House leagues they spread them out so they could play against each other. Well obvoiusly a bunch of kids who are State Champion, Regional Champion Runner Ups are going to be vastly superior in every way to the average kid in the house leagues.
But the league isn't going to tell them they can't play. Who are they to even tell a kid that he can't play. Its just demeaning. I can't help but think parents these days want the world covered in nerf for their kids. Your kids have to accept challenges and hardships in life and learn to deal with them.
A kid should not be banned from a little league baseball leauge especially when he has never hit anyone. In every little league sport there are always that one or two kids who are better then everyone else, bigger then everyone else ect. This is just parents ruining more fun.
take it as a compliment and move to a better league.comp_atkins
You can't exactly do that 8 games into a season now can you? They couldn't have waited until like after this season was over to discuss this? Like when his team wasn't about to go into the playoffs?
6'3 when you were 9?? man you must be the jolly green giant hahaha.HA what a ridiculous league. When I was 9 I was 6'3 and threw 45-50 mph, and there was another kid in our league who was 6'4 and threw harder than me.

Well actually reading the whole thing helped me see it both sides. It is fair. The league is for beginners and if he is that good, he should go to a higher league. Parents from other teams are concerned about their kids safety, that's not what they signed them up for when the league is for beginners. He is not a beginner so it's time for him to move on.Ilived
He is a 9 year old....If he's not a begining then what is he?
Regardlese of which the season is 8 games in. They are effectively cutting his season short. He can't just join a new team this late into the year. If people wanted to complain they should have voiced themselves before the season started, after the season was over, Or hell at least after the first time he pitched. Not 8 games in. Now its too late not only did they rob a little boy of the rest of his baseball season but the rest of his team had to suffer as well.
Thats so wrong....
They should let the kid stay and WATER THE FIELDS WITH THE TEARS OF HIS ENEMIES!!!!
Hes ruining the game for everyone else. Kid just needs to wait until he can get in a real league or play high school ball if he can keep up the talent.Montaya
He's 9 years old man. You really think he's an accomplished fielder or anything like that? A fast pitch doesn't cut in high school anyways you need more pitches.
I find it hilarious that you think he's ruining the game for everyone else yet it was him who was banned from pitching and his team who was 8-0 on its way to the playoffs disbanded. It was him and his team who got the game ruined for them and right at the end of the season.
I umpired baseball from the age of 12-16 and in all age groups there is always that one kid that is simply just better then everyone else. You don't punish excellence and if you do you might as well punish people for lously play as well by banning them.
what the hell how come this never happened to me?!? i am damn good at pitchingdo you think this is fair?

no, it shouldn't go both ways in this case.
So suddenly the kid has to wait until next baseball season until he can play again? Not only that, he needs to seek out a higher level league...of which there may not be one locally.
When I used to play, there was a guy on my team who'd hit a homerun nearly every at bat. If not a HR, it'd be a triple. He wasn't banned, and my league was a beginner co-ed league.
When i played i was fast enough to effectively steal my way around to 3rd uncontested every time i got on base. Then i came home on contact regardless of where it was hit. I scored more runs and swiped more bases in a single game ( we also didnt have a 10 run mercy rule which made for hilariously lop sided wins) than any other kid did the entire 13 game season.
I wasnt banned. Kid's parents should look for a legit league to put him in and not some reject pansy league with a dumb ruleset.
