Can anybody recommend me a good scary movie? Not a stupid goreporn thing like Saw or Hostel or anything but something paranormal or ghostly that's scary? Thanks!

The original Halloween movie is one of the best horror movies ever made. As such they whored it out and made it into a franchise and killed it. But you can always go back and watch the original and wish that all horror movies were this good.

Rose Red is awesome. It's not too gory and it's fairly well done. It was one of Stephen King's better movies in my opinion. You might like 1408 if you don't like a lot of gore. not as good, but still a pretty ok movie.

It's hard to name a good horror without a lot of gore and such throughout.

I guess I don't mind gore, I mean I can handle it but I hate it when it's gratuitous and the main point behind the film.

You can't go wrong with The Shining, Poltergeist, Halloween, or The Thing. Oh, and Friday the 13th Part VI:Jason Lives! is pretty great. :P

A good modern horror movie is The Decent. Probably my favorite in a while, especially if you're even a little claustrophobic. Definitely see it. It was the first time I was scared by a movie in a long time.

Your Average Joe Movie Goer won't be able to catch onto Audition. It's a brilliant film but not for those with ADD.

Jacob's Ladder is actually ****fied as a Drama albeit it is definitely a great movie.

I agree with these and must add some:
28 Days Later

Shutter (Haven't seen it but keep hearing the original Japanese movie is one of the scariest movies of all-time)

Ginger Snaps 1 and 2 (Not terribly scary per say but they are good and I think they deserve more attention)
