I just think I couldn't concieve it or live without it.
Sure, we can prove and hypothesise a lot of the world and universe around us, but in the end, I think humanity would just crumble without religion. In the depths of darkness from war, famine, pestilence and mass poverty & destruction. When the powers that be of our nation's can only sit and watch, it makes me worried that if we didn't have a belief in a higher entity then things would be very much different from now.
Personally and probably for a lot out there, religion can be tool to ground oneself. If it wasn't for Christianity, I don't think I'd be the fine upstanding individual that I am today. Religion, not law kept me in line. Not from the consequences from when I die which deferred me from taking the criminal path at a young age but Jesus' self-sacrifice made me see how selfish and hurtful I would've been.
I think there are other examples of where religion helps me but I've been typing this from 10 minutes and I'm getting kinda getting tired, plus the Manchurian Candidate is on. :P
I just wanted to vent my opinion here amid the Atheist threads.
