A Political Party with two heads = Republican Party + Democratic Party.

I believe this to be true, and that is the state of our country today.  Besides varying differences, these parties have merged into one.  For example, the Republican Party use to be about 'small government' and were 'strict constitutionalists'; the Democratic party were quite the opposite.  It's important that the minor parties get a 'real' shot at the presidency.  That means they need 'real' media coverage so as not to only reach to less than 10% of the population.  They need to be on the debates.  And the corporate paymasters behind the entire election process needs to be demolished.

When your grankids ask you where you were when the nation went to crap, what are you going to say?

I wanted to Vote Bob Barr, but he had no chance.. So I voted McCain cause at least he had a chance and he conforms more to Barr's views than Obama does.

He has no chance because why?  Because you know that not as many will vote for him as either McCain or Obama.  It's not because his view are 'unpopular', in fact, most people are disgrunttled with the election system today; they feel they have no power in the election, and that's why the turnout has always been low.  Sure, more people have voted in this election than in 1970, but the turnout is still only 65-70% of the people.  A lot of people realize that these corporations are too big to overcome by themselves.  And that's essentially the crux of the problem: the idea that were powerless in the face of established organizations and traditions.  You should have voted for Barr and got others to vote for him.  That's what I did for Nader; I got five people, who would've voted for Obama, to vote for Nader.  Ultimately, we need to come together crack down on the things we don't agree with that are destroying our government.

It doesn't change the fact that you may or may not have done anything to prevent the problem from getting worse.

Yeah the two parties are very similar. Especially when compared to the diversity of the political parties over in Europe.

I think that is important to note though however that independents and third party candidates are getting more support and more attention. Maybe not in the presidential election, but look at all the senate races in 2008 that were heavily impacted by third party candidates.

These aren't Libertarian beliefs; I'm not advocating for the dismissal of government strength but for partisan equality.
