I was watching TV yeterday and I saw on some Gospel channel they were talking about Adam and Eve. I heard them say they had two sons. I was thinking and thinking then I thought, how are we here if Adam and Eve had two sons? Did eve do it with one of her sons? I don't think they ever explained this in the Bible. If this really happened, I'd be grossed out by it. That's called incest right? What do you think really happened?

There apparently were other people in the world. After Cain murdered Abel, he expressed fear to God that people he met would try to punish him.

ADAM was really Ocelot and EVE was a guy but EVA, the Chinese spy, used the alias to get close enough to steal the Philosopher's Legacy.

Cain and Abel is just an early analogy of the dangers of coveting. If these two people were real flesh and blood and we did all descend from them, they had other children.

If God only created Adam and Eve who then had two children, where did these "other people" that Cain was worried about come from? Maybe they are the ones who evolved from hominids :P

That god created adam and eve and they would be the creation of all man,yet there were other people not of adam and eve for cain to go live amongst. Even the incest therory does not explain how the bible writes that period and story.

As the story goes, yes they did have incest as they had to reproduce. Supposedly, though, they were much closer to perfection than we are, so birth defects didn't apply to them. Again, that's how some explain it.

Apparently so. The only way Adam and Eve's children could reproduce is to mate with other family members, since they were the only humans at the time.

which is exactly why i think that the bible has no truth to it, just some morals that you can choose to live by. IMO the bible is just an old book misread. Not trying to start a flame war but im sure that this is something similar to what is said in the bible, "God said let there be light, and so there was." im not sure if thats the exact thing because honestly...i dont even have a bible in my house, but do you guys really believe that?

Genesis easily allows for God having "made" other humans for their children to mate with.

To take the (or any) creation myth literally is a fools quest that leads to nothing beneficial. There is absolutely no way it could have actually happened. It carries way more meaning if taken metaphorically and symbolically, like most religious texts. It is a story designed to deliver a message, not recount true historical events. I personally don't understand the message behind having only two sons.

Well at least it isn't a snap decision. Personally I believe that "GOD" is a concept for the way we interpret and interact with the world around us, if there is a literal way to look at it, the infinite universe that we are all connected with, in this way I suppose that "God" brings us all together.

Its a patriarchal society, having a son was the ultimate expectation, where having a daughter alot of times was a disapointment.

You'd be surprised how literally the church takes stories like those. My last church (nondenominational) condemned everyone who asked questions like that, saying that they had no sense of faith in god's awesome powers. They were the most laid-back church i'd ever been to. I'm agnostic now :D

I'm pretty sure incest wasn't condemned until the Mosaic laws. Genesis 5:4 says that they had other sons and daughters. Genetics weren't corrupted so soon after expulsion from the garden so incest wasn't geneticaly harmful.

Actually, as surprising as this might sound, the bible is one of the most accurate historical texts in existence. I'm not one for the 'Let There Be Light' fable, but a lot of the occurences in the bible, like the existence and destruction of certain cities and landmarks, are historically accurate. Some scientists use the bible as a timeline of sorts, to graph their discoveries. Here's an extra tidbit...the chronological category B.C. does not translate to 'Before Christ'. In fact, it's an acronym for 'Before the Common Era'. And A.D.? "Anno Domini". Thanks for tuning in, folks :)

Especially when you consider that Lot, (a fellow so holy that someone came back from the dead just by his corpse touching the old man's skeleton,) boned his two daughters.

Hmmm.... I don't know. You'd have to be pretty drunk to not realize you were boning your daughters, besides a pillar of salt is only gonna work for so long.

It's not so much an issue of stupidity (though I assure you, we're nearing the top of the list) but an issue of belief and philosophy. To a Christian, the bible is proven fact. As cold-hard true as the existence of chimpanzees. Though critics and skeptics might doubt their sometimes outlandish claims, the Christian takes pity on them for their inability to 'see' god the way he/she does. It's the same with every religion. You know Shiva, the destroyer, the celestial dancer who pounds the earth into nonexistence with his feet? Zeus, the supreme god of the skies, who lives at the peak of Mount Olympus on an enormous cloud? They still have temples scattered all over the world.

Actually, the B.C you're talking about stands for Before Christianity, not Christ. It's another extension of the whole B.C., B.C.E. thing, but it's a common misconception that's been taken as fact by the majority of the populace.

B.C.E. is Before Common Era. See here.

B.C. does stand for Before Christ, but is becmoing less common and replaced by BCE.

Actually, the B.C you're talking about stands for Before Christianity, not Christ. It's another extension of the whole B.C., B.C.E. thing, but it's a common misconception that's been taken as fact by the majority of the populace.

No, BC stand for Before Christ.

Seconded, just to provide a source that can't be dismissed as easily as "Oh, wikipedia"
