Why is it called Corona 'Extra' and not just Corona?
My question to you is, where does the 'Extra' come from?
A free wedge of lime for anyone who can tell me!

for the love of god, drink good beer
and dont put lime in it!
Corona IS good beer! What do you drink?Haven't had Grolsch, but I find Carlsberg to be your typical European macrobrew - decent, but unexciting. I'd rather have it than a light American beer, though, and I'd rate in on par with Canadian macrobrew even though it doesn't taste the same.Since we are on the top of beer, Ive always been curious as to what people thought of Carlsberg and Grolsch?

Russian River (Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, Salvation, Damnation)
Lagunitas (Brown Shugga, Ruben and the Jets)
Chimay
Firestone Walker (Double Barrel Ale, Pale Ale, Union Jack, Double Jack)
Spaten Optimator
Just to name a few.
You see, Corona (along with other big-brewery beers such as Bud, Coors, and more) are technically good beers; they have a process, and can produce huge amount for cheap, and sell it for cheap, and you likely wont find a bad can or bottle of beer on the shelf. But, as with Mac products, their success lies in the marketing, not because they offer a better product.
They have convinced people beer taste bad, and that the most flavorless beer is the one with the most drinkability. They have duped the customer, not by peddling a great tasting product, but by billions of dollars of marketing. In short, they have fooled you into drinking dingo piss...fizzy, yellow, mild-mannered water.
Folks, there is a whole wide world of amazing beer. If youre in Europe, you have an amazing tradtion of beers, ranging from German lagers to amazing Belgian ales and smooth British beers.
If youre in the US, there is a huge brewing movement going on in your back yard. Chances are that there is at least one small craft-or-micro-brewery withing a short driving distance of where you live.
I admit, during my early years of college I too was duped into drinking Corona, Bud, and beers like that. But then I found my calling as a brewer. I have been exposed to the world of beer, and it has taken me into its warm embrace. Beer should taste like something; whether its a dark, malt, rich doppelbock at 8% alcohol, or a robust, citrusy, ultra-hoppy double IPA, it should taste like anything but replacement water.
As I said, there is no shame in drinking or even enjoying a bad beer like Corona. Maybe its really hot, and you just cant stand to drink any more water, so a nice, light, crisp Corona sounds good. But unless the scenario is like that, why dont you try something good?

This man speaks the truth. One of the reasons i love living in Europe heh.It seems to just be a marketing gimmick to get people to buy their crappy beer.spazzx625Much like limes! "Here, add some citrus to help hide the taste of our beer!"
Am I the only one who thinks the beer would be vastly improved if the bottle cap was shaped like a sombrero?
Samwel_X
no, but I'd definately buy it!

The fact that i'm a very casual beer drinker (2 or 3 a week) drives me towards things like Corona, Becks etc because of the ease of choice and price, i'll definalty try something a little different the next time i spot it though![QUOTE="mrbojangles25"]

But yea, if youre happy, more power to you. Just try some other stuff.
