Are you very vocal about your lack of faith IRL? Do your friends/acquaintances and/orfamily know? Or do you just vent it out on the internet mainly? I've always been curious about this. For me, I am very vocal about my stance on organised religion but it doesn't seem many Atheist are like me.

My family and friends know.

I don't dish out my opinion all that much anymore on here,

only when the situation calls for it.

I don't randomly spout out anti-religious nonsense for the sake of doing it.

No. I'm not that vocal about it, since it's a personal thing. I don't feel the need to walk around and tell everyone that I don't believe in a god. What would be the point of that?

I don't vent it anywhere, including on the internet. If I'm asked, I respond in as to-the-point a manner as I can.

family and friends know if they've asked, but I don't bring it up much. If someone trys arguing with me I'll tear them to shreds, but I don't ever start religious debate or discussion.

My family, friends and most teachers know about my lack of faith, they just don't care enough to start discussions about it though. Opposed to here, where topics are created often for the sole purpose of discussing theological views, so I can't be as vocal offline as I am online.

See the reason I asked is because most tell me they are generally afraid to discuss it anywhere outside of the internet, so I just asked around here to find out if you guys had similar feelings.

It's not that I am afraid, it's because I don't feel the need to be blatantly disrespectful.

Or to get modded.

I'm vocal about it around my friends and family, but I'm not around strangers simply because I don't want to offend anyone (or start a useless debate). If someone asked I certainly wouldn't lie though...

No, I don't ever talk about religion unless I'm forced to, then I just take the piss out of it. I find it's the religious people that are usually more vocal than the non religious.

My family know, and most of my friends are Atheists anyway.

I'm only vocal about it to my family, and that's only if it's in reference to something on TV. I've been stopped by Christians in town who are "spreading the word" and I'm quite happy to stand and talk with them for a bit about their faith. If it keeps them at peace then good luck to them.

Get off the fence :P .

The UK isn't overly religious, so it doesn't come up much...or is particularly important. I had a short conversation about it with a muslim friend of mine once about it, but that's about as far as it goes. Religion (even a lack thereof) just isn't relevant or particularly important to me.

In life and online I never really make it a point of being vocal about it. If asked I tell others , but that's basically as far as it goes.

That dosen't make any sense. You can be agnostic about atheism or religion (or both), you can also be gnostic about religion or atheism (or both.)

I, for example, am an agnostic atheist. Which means I lack the belief in the existence of a deity. The term "agnosticism" doesn't really say much.

I only respond when asked. I don't go out of my way to spout it to others and make them know I'm an atheist. Though, if they come up with some silly misconception, I can guarantee you I'll destroy it, and won't relent until it is destroyed.

Atheism and religion are both stupid. Agnosticism is the only way that makes sense.LiftedHeadshot

What makes you say that? Being completely closed off to any explanation about anything, and not actually wanting to know anything is all that makes sense? Are you scared of what truths might lie out there for you to find? Or perhaps you fear what truths might be hiding within your own subconscious mind?

I am a gnostic (or at least, an ante-gnostic, that is I am searching for the truth, I have not found it yet). I wish to know the truth about human existence, no matter what it might be, and I will take whatever path leads me to that truth. I've tried feigning ignorance over the years by calling myself an "agnostic" atheist, but I definitely do find the idea of the Abrahamic God (and everything else "supernatural" for that matter) quite preposterous, and think there are far better explanations as to why people have mystical experiences. Most of it is rooted in the human psyche, which is capable of much more than we might well know.

I don't like lie about it if people ask or anything, but I think only a few of my friends know.

It just doesn't come up all that often in conversation for me. It's a bit difficult to go from the subjects of videogames, movies, school classes, and random stuff onto the subject of religion

If anyone asks me, i tell them straight up. But it is really none of their business anyway. If a religious person badgers me about it, i give them both barrels. I dont ask or care about what religion they follow, why should they care what i believe? My family knows exactly how i feel about it.

The only people aside from friends who know are my parents who grudgingly accepted my atheism.
