Is it possible to play an un-extended version of the movies with those discs? Like, is there an option for this? Just wondering cause my dad has the regular widescreen versions, I have the extended versions, and I was just curious.

It should ask you somewhere if you want the Extended Version or the Theatrical Version. Choose Theatrical.

I don't think so either. Just watched Fellowship the other day, and all I recall is a play button...Though, I have to admit, I wasn't looking for the theatrical release.

Yeah, unless it's hidden in the screen decor, you can only watch the extended version on the extended discs. I've never seen the extended versions before so it should be interesting.

No, it'd be strange since the extended disc is written on two discs and the theatrical release is only one-disc's length. But if you own them both, it's not a problem.:D

WHy would you want to? Those are, in my opinion, the finest movies that mankind has ever created.

Yes. Not so much in Fellowship (although it's still great), but in the other two you will get a solid hour and 15 minutes of extra movie, at least. There is more action, more detail, more accuracy to the book, and a few really sweet things I won't ruin for you. Check them out.

There are two versions. With the origianl four disc EE then no you cannot. With the newer, 2 disc EE you can do either I think.

Well if your buying the extended DVDs then I would assume you wanted to watch them that way. If you want the theatrical versions then just by the box set of all the theatrical discs.
