I have no idea, but Game of Thrones was one of the best books I have ever read. Never got around to reading the rest of them yet.
yes, definitely. the characters' motives are explored throuroughly in the book, which they couldn't capture in the show (though the show is still great). the books also give much greater detail of the world and its inhabitants, if you're into literature that has an epic scope.
The books are great, with the third one being the best. The fourth and the fifth are kind of boring, but they pick up near the end. If you don't want to wait a year to find out what happens next, you should read it, but it will probably be a bit different in the show.
Yes the books are worth it. The characters are a fleshed out a lot more, and you get to read past what is happening in the TV show. It is different enough though, that you are not just reading the exact same thing as the show. I highly recommend it. Keep your expectations low for the 4th and 5th books though.
The first season is almost the first book verbatim, but there's some pretty significant differences between season two and A Clash of Kings. I'd say definitely read the books. JinjonatorXThere are some major differences. Particularly some characters are missing from the series like for example the Blackfish (though they plan to introduce him in season 3). Some characters are also in different places in the book like for example Roose Bolton.
So I just finished watching the second season of game of thrones and I'm wondering if the books are different enough to warrant reading through the books. LonelynightHell yes!
Yea, the books are better and worth reading. It's probably ok if you start on the second one but you're better of just reading them all.
The books are far more in detail and have some large differences. They are very long but interesting reads.
[QUOTE="Lonelynight"]is it okay if I start on the second bookairshocker
Why would you want to?
I kinda want to quickly get to the part of the story that hasn't been covered by the tv series.[QUOTE="airshocker"][QUOTE="Lonelynight"]is it okay if I start on the second bookLonelynight

I kinda want to quickly get to the part of the story that hasn't been covered by the tv series. It's best to start from the beginning. You have till April, so why not sit back and enjoy the book series in it's entirety? The books and the series as far as the story goes are the same. The series stays pretty true to the books. Now I will say that there is a lot more detail and information about each character that you don't get from the series that you get in the books, and its pretty obvious why that is. I guess the best thing about the books is that if you are watching the show and it switches to the next POV character, for example if they are showing a scene about Bran in the show, in the books you basically get an idea of what Jon Snow is doing during this time, and you find out a lot more of why they did certain things in the show in the books. The descriptions of what the characters look like are little different from the show but are pretty close.

Agreed you miss out on so many things if you just skip through the books.[QUOTE="Lonelynight"][QUOTE="airshocker"]I kinda want to quickly get to the part of the story that hasn't been covered by the tv series. Season 1 is a carbon copy of book 1, but the book is a good bit deeper. I say read em.Why would you want to?
