Well, it's not been half a year yet, but its closing in on it very shorty. What do you think about Obama so far?

Some issues that could be mentioned.

1. His constant deficit spending which he is confident will heal our economy and the spending will eventually be compensated for.

2. His advocacy of universal healthcare and his effort to get the system at least pertially into our country.

3. His tax hikes which recently passed through "cap and trade", which is essentially a tax on businesses who emit carbon. Many people say taxing during a recession can only harm and not help.

4. Many people think his stimulus package is only a temporary fix to a much deeper rooted problem in our economy, many also claim the recent GDP growth was only temporary and very similar to the growth seen during the 1930s under Roosevelt's administration which didn't necessarily fix the economy only made it appear to be healing.

----

I would like to keep this topic more focused on Obama's fiscal policies; however, if you would like to talk about foreign issues, moral issues, etc., you may.

Sigh.

He should have. If he had spent 1.4 trillion for the bailout, it would have fixed everything. I know the economies of other countries are doing bad too, so he should bail them out as well. We should just start printing money night and day and giving it to everyone because then no one will be poor. I'm a genius, but no one ever listens to me. :)

I'll respond to your statements based on how you numbered him 1. Didn't people criticize Bush for putting us into a deficit? Is everyone suddenly okay with Obama doing the same thing but twice as bad? 2. Europe is running away from government-run healthcare because it doesn't work, so why are we barreling ahead towards it? Are you ready to be put on an 8-month waiting list for a medical issue that needs immediate attention? How about a board of bureacrats deciding whether or not you deserve to have the medication you need to keep you alive? 3. Anyone with an IQ higher than 80 can understand why cap and trade is bad. Nearly everything we buy comes from big businesses, so when they start having to pay higher taxes, guess who they are going to pass down that cost to..... 4. In the 80's, Reagan got us out of a recession by lowering taxes, which in turn put more money in the economy, which led to more consumer spending, which led to more jobs being created. Obama is trying to get us out of a recession by doing the exact opposite. Let's see how THAT works out Mr. President. You can't keep blaming Bush forever.

pretty average president...he really seems as if he is just riding out the economic storm until he can point towards any kind of progress and take credit for it...probably around next election.

I'm predicting he's going to be a one-term president. He's a likeable guy, but he's way too far-left and clueless to be running the whitehouse.

I think he'll win a second term...Republicans don't have a decent candidate to run against him. If Republicans elect Mike Huckbee to run against him, I'll definitely vote for Obama.

What's wrong with Huckabee? He was the most moderate candidate in the GOP primary. I really liked his proposal on elminating Federal income tax and replacing it with a higher sales tax; which would have meant no more complicated W-2s, no more people cheating their way out of paying their fair share.

Living in the UK I don't hear much about what he does, so I have the impression that he hasn't really done much since taking over.

He hasn't. Just kidding. In all seriousness, it's only six months into his first term. I think it's wayyy to early to start criticizing.
