About a day ago, news hit that earthquakes had struck different parts of the world all within 24 hours. Countries like Japan, Indonesia, Iran and Chile had been rattled with earthquakes that all reached around a magnitude 6.0. Experts say that it's all just a coincidence.

But it had me thinking how there could have been so many quakes in so little time. Probably the just the Earth's crust being a bit more unstable than usual? One thought I had was that maybe it had to do with the experiment of the atom smashers. But since I know nothing about what it does, I can't really make a theory out of it.

Anyone have their own theories on this?

anything I can think of would be considered distasteful, so I'll remind you of the date and leave it at that.

No i doubt that the Hadron Collider had anything to do with it. Theres no way in hell that it could smash atoms anywhere outside of the machine

Not to mention they didn't even smash any atoms together yet.

Well that is unusual. My dad is in Afghanistan and he said it lasted about 30seconds and it was the strongest he's ever felt.

Are you talking about 9/11? I don't understand how that would have to do anything with earthquakes.

I heard news about three of them, the one in Japan, the one in Indonesia and the one in Iran. There are probably some that I missed but I doubt that LHC has anything to do with them. I don't think the warmer climate is enough to make the continental plates move faster either... I don't have any theories...

It's probably just a fluke.

Must have been really strong to reach that far. I know people in the Philippines but have yet to call them to see if they felt the quake that hit Indonesia.

Yeah, there were two parts in South American that were hit. One was Chile, and the other I don't remember. I just find it a bit strange.

Yeah, it's amazing that the hadron collider can cause earthquakes when they haven't even done anything with it yet. What has science done!?

There area ALWAYS earthquakes. They've got an exhibit at my local science museum that monitors seismic monitors that they connect to around the world. There's always something going on.

earthquakes can trigger other earthquakes, just an unusual event. And if i hear one more theory about the LHC destroying the world i might have to kill someone. Most of the people i hear IRL who mention it have no idea what a 'Hadron' is let alone what the LHC actually does.

Whoa wait what? That is kind of odd... because today my city got hit by a tiny earthquake, early in the morning.... The twist is, my city is in Canada :|

1. The LHC is below the french-swiss border
2. They haven't even done any real experiments yet
