Listen man, lets pretend this might have really happened. First of all if you park at this place often, then i would not go back there again. If the damage was huge, and if the cops investigate, which i doubt, they will scrape off part of the paint of your car which was left on his car. When they scrape it, they will identify your car as the Impala. This is because the color paint of your car is new, so it will be very easy to identify. Also if you are fixing it at a shop, a record will also be placed for your vehicle having some sort of damage. Basically you won't get away, if there was serious damage done to someone else's car/truck. If it is just a ding, they probably won't even notice. i don't have enough information to follow up on this, but good luck. If it is true, any how.

@davillain- Like he said, no pic, no proof

When i first passed my test i reversed and hit a parked car, didnt do much damage to my car apart from a dent in the bumper.

A few weeks later police contacted me and i had to give my details for the other car to be repaired.

I was lucky to not a get a police caution on my record

This is why I park my cars far FAR in the back of the lot where no one else is. It lowers my chances of getting hit by a careless idiot who will just drive away after damaging my car.

There is no such thing as an accident, just carelessness, denial and the justification of idiocy.

Anyway you will never get caught so it makes no difference what you do.

Here's what you do.

You get a personalized license plate that reads "I FORGOT". So, if and when something like this happens again and a witness happens to see it and grab your plate number, you'll be free and in the clear from police intervention.

That is so irresponsible and you shouldn't be driving a car if you can't handle the responsibility. Sorry that I sound like your mom, but you seem 16. Race me in my GTI.

The fact you don't understand basic sentence structure and the concept of punctuation makes me think you aren't old enough to drive.

I don't know what the law says in the US about it but the way I see it, If you made a dent or some very noticeable damage then you should've at the very least written a note explaining what happend and your number so they could call and sort our the insurance info with you.
If you dinged it and hardly did damage, they'll likely not notice but you should've still informed them.

If you really are afraid of the cops tracking you down and the guilt you have, it's generally better if you go to the police yourself then if they need to come get you.
