yeah did you do bad in high school but went to a pretty good college and gained a successful job/career. Did you always know what you wanted to be or did you find out later on i would like to know I'm very unsure about my future right now.

I did fairly well in high school and college. I didn't decide on my major until my sophomore year.

Lots of people go to college/university for one thing, but after 4 years are completed they come out doing something completely different. So it does not matter if you know what you want to be right now.

I "knew" what I wanted to be throughout high school and wound up switching intended majors after only three months of college.

I've had four majors! No matter. Employers really just look for a degree in general, unless you want to get into a very specific field, like science or architecture. A general degree (like mine is computer science now) will look good to many, many potential employers.

I'm a freshmen in College, and I seem to be one of the few that know what they want to do. Even if I do switcch majors, it will most likely be something closely related that won't be to hard of a transition.

I definitely did the exact opposite. I was a decent HS student but didn't really know it until after i graduated. When i got to college, i thought i knew what i wanted to do but found out that the requirements for my desires were more than i wanted to sustain. I ended up falling into something somewhat similar to what i really wanted to do but not really. Can't say my job is perfect but it pays the bills for now. College is supposed to be your trial and error period so don't stress over things if you are unsure about where life is taking you. You have plenty of time to figure out where you want to end up ;)

I did bad in high school. I was a C student. It took me a few years after graduation, but I eventualy believed in my own abilities enough to better my life. I went to college, got high honors, and landed a good job. The night of my graduation ceremony I had already been up for 30 hours before hand working on the Transformers Movie teaser trailer. Good times.

i dropped out when i was 16, got my GED when i was 18 and now im 28 and im making about 40k a year which isn't bad for a high school dropout who spent about 5 years getting smashed. i have coworkers making less than me and they're college grads. its all about how you present yourself and how hard you're willing to work to make a living. that being said i do regret not going to college as i know i would be better off in the job market so i suggest going to college, even if its a rotten no name community college. most non-specialty jobs (astrophysicist, biochemist, doctor, lawyer etc) just look at your resume and schooling to see "did he/she have what it took to stick through college"

Well you know what they say, the A students end up working for the C students.

Really though I wouldn't let it bother you. There aren't a lot of jobs where they worry about what grade you got, more so if you graduated or not.

I did, I only had a 3.1 or 3.2 and I made it into Xavier...But supposedly I wrote this amazing entrance essay that sealed the deal for me early, and they probably looked at my good grades in English also (I'm an English major).

It's not unusual to not know what you want to do. In fact, most people change careers 3 or 4 times even after school. Find something you love doing and you will be happy. Find something you love doing and can make money with and you'll be rich.

You're never really tied to one job, but a 4 year degree is going to help regardless of the position. Most colleges don't make you declare for a year or two anyway. I wouldn't sweat it.

You don't have to know what you want to do, but you do have to realize that there are a lot of things you can do to increase your chances of getting a good job:

* Choose something you like to do, make it your major, and excel at it.
* Take school and work seriously, but not too seriously.
* Consider taking an aptitude test to determine where your interests lie.

There are plenty of jobs you cannot get without a degree: medicine, law, engineer

I believe it was a pretty solid 3.0.

Pharmacists make very good money. There is also quite a bit of schooling and continuing Ed involved. I'd say that you might be able to gauge a bit of that option based on how you feel about chemistry.

Pharmacy majors do well coming out of college but they do have to go through a lot. Honestly, it's been said before, most employers don't pay attention to your GPA...that's more so for post-graduate purposes. I was able to skate by in my first college try and graduate with a 2.51 on a 4.0 scale...HS i think i managed a 3.5

I know a man who during Highschool was druggie to say the least, he did terrible in high school and even in college to an extent. This man was also incredibly smart and now lives in a 4 million dollar home. although the chances of you getting as lucky as that guy are miniscule.

yes, a smart, confident person can go pretty far in life if they put in the effort.

*feels cheated by thread title*

I got into uni through clearing after a major fudging on the A-Level side of things. There are few jobs that require specific degrees (like medicine, law etc.) but most will just look at if you have a degree. Just pick what you're most interested in and decide when you're ready, forcing yourself to do so will just cause more problems then they solve.

I did horrible in highschool. I got C's and D's and never did any of my work. Now I'm in my first year of college and I'm doing a lot better and getting A's and B"s. I had no clue what I was going to with my future at the beggining of the year but now I'm starting to think of becoming a biology major. College is a new chance to straighten yourself out and figure out what you want to do.

I was pretty lazy at high school, I did not work, mainly just went through it with pass marks, a few high ones but I never really bothered to work for it. Funnily enough I got into pre-law or whatever it's called than got into actual law but decided it wasn't for me and started doing a triple major over commerce and arts. Still not exactly sure what I want to do as a career but my majors give me plenty of options (even though I only have a year of uni left :? ).
