After seeing this I think the US's history books are incredibly biased.

Alright I was looking at one of my history books and I saw this " Jesus was thought to have been born around 4-6 BC really he was crucified at 6 amazing. Also this "Persecution of the Christian". Yeah they were persecuted for a while, but theres nothin gin this book about The Flagellants, The Vaticans role in the Holocaust, or the Spanish inquisition. Way to make Christianity look perfect an dflawless with no problems whatsoever. Anything about Islam in the book has mainly to do with the Ottoman Turks, nothing about how Islam when it first started was actually one of the most tolerant religions and the Qur'an says Muslims Christians and Jews worship the same God. Gee it's looking to me like the US education likes religious bia and one-sided portrayals of history...

1. Clean up your grammar. It is very difficult to tell what exactly you are saying,

2. The Vatican was not involved in the holocaust

3. In reality, Islam is as tolerant as any other western religion.

4. It depends on how old you are and what type of history you are taking that determines what kind of textbook you use. They all focus on different things and leave certain things out in order to leave room for more detail.

...It looks to me like you are just a christian hater. (this is all coming from an atheist)

EDIT: Here you go champ...

They were tolerant towards Christians and Jews. But idol-worshippers were always given the same choice: Convert or die. Also, don't ask about the Banu Qurayza. Gee it's looking to me like the US education likes religious bia and one-sided portrayals of history...mealex

Does it mention anything bad about Islam? Because if not, it's not really one-sided, it's most likely just trying too hardto avoid offending anybody.

It's true that the Vatican turned a blind eye to the Holocaust- basically at one point Mussolini had no choice but to let the Germans in to round up Jews, and the Pope didn't respond to repeated requests from many people, Jewish and not Jewish.

But I would like to know what year the book you are reading was made. I'd also like to know where you are from and why you are readin an American History book.

The pope really had no choice, he was surrounded by the axis powers. like the above poster said; "They turned a blind eye." That doesn't mean in any way that they were involved or contributed to the genocide.

Jesus was crucified around 30AD....more or less....He was thought to have been 33. Your math is off.

Yes, Christians were persecuted...that IS a true fact. The flagellants were an extreme group of people that did not represent the church. Your point?

The Vatican did not play a part in the Holocaust....and to be honest, until the war was over....most people didn't know what went on in those camps.

The Spanish Inquisition was handled by the monarchs...not the church.

History records events....peaceful people of any religion don't created events. They live and die.

That is what the Qur'an says....and? We don't teach religion dogma here.

This thread.....fails.

O-kay, this is stupid.

There is no bias, Christ was NOTcrucified at 6 (He was 32 I believe) your history book may be apologetic, there are THOUSANDS of books on the "evils" of Christianity for you to look at, and Christianity, Judaism, and Islam do NOT worship the same God.

Adieu.

Watch that episode of Family Guy where Brian and Stewie go to Europe. They don't even mention it, they just say "punch was served." They *should* teach their children about it because if we don't learn the mistakes of the past we will repeat them in future.

Germans are really apologetic about the Holocaust, from what I understand... although that leads to the intense paranoia of anything like it happening in the future, which is why Nazi symbols are completely banned.

Yeah, except for the Rednecks, we Americans are very self loathing, and sometimes it leads to lies and exagerations.

Like look at all the reverse racism on white men!!!!! We built giant cities, and miles of aquaducts and roads 2000 years ago for nothing!!!!!! This sucks!!!!!11

News for you: all history books are biased in all countries. For example, in here the American Revolution is taught a certain way. Go to England and well, it's not exactly the same. The history of the world depends on the country. It's up to you to judge them with the accurate info. That's what good history teachers say too, don't trust the book you're reading all the time.
